Hello to fellow Silverwing riders. I just bought a 5000 mile 2009 and it is my first scooter. After four VFR/Interceptors, it's quite a different ride. I've been riding about 30 years and still need to remind myself not to pull the "clutch" in when coming to a stop. It's a great scoot, however. Carries a lot, reasonable handling and decent fuel mileage. It is taking some time to get used to the very upright, or even laid-back riding position and to the totally different feel of the smaller scooter wheels and busier steering. Despite the name, I have to say that it's a long way from a Goldwing, but the low weight distribution is very nice. Feels a little light in the front end - to be expected - but I'm enjoying the learning process of making it do twisties at an entertaining pace.

My 'wing has virtually no mods. It has a Givi top case and until today had a Givi windshield. I traded windshields back to the shorter Honda screen as I prefer a little wind in my face. A short ride through the hills today underlined that it is a competent two-wheeler, and like my VFR, reminds me that it is faster than I am.

Welcome from Seattle.

The Givi Adjustable might work better for you. Also, you might be able to trade that Givi fixed windshield for an adjustable on here or on the silverwing yahoo site.

Enjoy the forum. There is quite a bit of information on here about your bike.

I'm evaluating my Silverwing over my Goldwing right now. I've had my silver about a month. Lets face it, the Goldwing is a long distance machine. A bit unwieldy for in town riding, really it wants to get out and cruise. Trouble is, not every place I want to go is a long distance. I'm hoping the Silverwing is a little of both and perhaps a bit more versatile.

Welcome to the forum Edgett, and welcome to you, dekare, too. While the Silverwing is no G'Wing it is a touring-class scooter and fully capable of long distance rides. Best wishes to you on your new ride.

Welcome aboard from o-HI-o . I've learned what it can and can't do, #1 one can't replace a G'Wing #2 can replace a G'Wing one just has to decide what in what realm.
