Getting ready for trip

Getting ready for trip---TN to Eau Claire WI, friend's funeral, on to Duluth,then Ironwood MI, look at some property,cross Mackinac bridge, don't like the iron grates when wet, then straight south to Chattanooga, I-75 and other roads.

Bike is always ready, snow possible.

Have stopped using my feather jacket liner(loft) gone. Having been cold on past 2 trips, using my new lined leather jacket as liner for Darien Jacket, plus my Aerostich electric bib (hate the wires from electric stuff),Darien pants ready for cold/wet. Saving space using my Wolverine Waterproof boots (saving carrying rubber boots) As always carrying large selection of gloves. Two Ortlieb bags, one full of stuff, other over load junk.

Using Vega Helmet with face shield. Air management on maxi-scooter SOO bad Open face helmet no longer works for me....taken me 26 years with maxi-scooter to realize this ---many of my motorcycles over the years had very good air management/design/fairings allowing open face helmet use in comfort.....and looking over windshield.

Will try to stick to around 5,000 rpm. Gas mileage will still be 5-10 more than my Burgman 400's under same conditions....displacement difference, I know. Leave Monday AM.

Holy crap Mr Grinsel!!! D'loot in April? Sheesh, the big lake is still iced over and the icy winds are going blow you off the Big Mac bridge. I don't envy you, but I sure do admire your courage.

Of course, unless you've got family in the area, there's little to attract you to Duluth except 'Stich or maybe the Duluth Trading store.
