Power mods

Hello again.
So I figured I will do most of I can to improve my "sewing machine's" performance without spending too much green. I ordered a K$N filter, a GPR Nero Exhaust, a Power Commander III module and also a used filter housing, in case I decide to go with the Ghetto Air Box Mod, by drilling a bunch of holes. I am yet to install it all , hopefully this weekend. I found a shop near by that can dyno test me for $50 and also configure a new map for me, if needed for $300, which I do not think I am ready to pay. He will also tell me after testing if making holes in the filter box will help or not based on the richness of the mix. They are pros there and even have their own racing team so I am hoping for a good outcome. I will be installing everything myself, as I always do.
Oh! I forgot to mention that I also ordered the 26g Dr. Pulley sliders, so I am hoping for even more improvement. I will post pictures and results here.

I started with 26g sliders, but was not satisfied with the improvement and switched to 24g sliders. I am happy with the 24g's. Good acceleration with little loss of MPG. Definitely have fun with your mods.

My advice after 70,000 SilverWing miles (2 new ones) leave everything stock and ride it. No amount of money will make it something it is not. Works fine for me.

I have to agree with John on this one, but I do endorse the 26g sliders though. Resulted in smoother acceleration off the line plus took 400-500 rpm off at highway speeds.

My stock '02 Swing will run a lot faster than I want to ride it. I find so few opportunities to run over a hundred miles per hour and, so far, I haven't found a passenger vehicle I couldn't beat off the line if I was so inclined. I think maybe you're gilding the lily, but if it makes you happy...have at it!

The recipe for fun is riding somewhere you've never been to or want to visit again, a nice place to stay to use as a base, finding memorable places to eat,and wander about round while you're there, and of course enjoyable roads to ride on. You don't need to bolt on any of that kit pictured above to do it either, a stock Silver Wing will get you there with performance to spare.

In 10 years time you'll remember that trip with happy memories, remember a lunch in the friendly mom and pop café, others riders you may have met, and probably have photos of that time.

You won't look back and remember that GPR silencer, the Power Commander, or the number of holes you've drilled in your air box.

Isn't it wonder that all of us were created to be different from one another. Different hair, eye color, hight, personalities, sense of humor, etc... Wouldn't it be boring if we all liked the same things or thought in exactly same ways. But we are not, thank God! I remember the March of 1988 when I came home after school and saw my first motorbike sitting in the middle of my bedroom. I also remember my first ride. It was cold and the snow was pressed on the roads so it was as slippery as ice then in Tallinn. And I fell and dented the tank on the ride. I also remeber a couple of awesome mods that I did on that bike to make it taller and replaced the seat with the bench from a different moped. That was fun. I also remeber chopping my first bike in the States in 2000. Here it is. I did it over the winter period, in my inlaws' shed.  I remember how much fun it was workin on all of my rides. All the power mods, the airbrushing that I used to do. It was so much fun. The Ghetto Air Kit I did on my Yamaha Vstar 650 and gutted the pipes or the air inrake/jetting mods I did to my Roadstar and the grin that I could not wipe of my face for weeks when I realized how much stronger that bike became because of MY OWN tinkering. I guess the gear-heads are different that way.  I guess to each his own applies here too. Anyway. Ride safe, brother! Enjoy what you do. Isn't that what is important?!

you are absolutely right! I am not one for great modifications, but I can understand that it could be great fun for some others. We have different needs and ideas, live in different climate zones, some do huge miles and others are only casual riders. Let us just all enjoy our Swings the way we like them without passing judgement on what others do with them.
