Latest Silverwings made

Hello.
Tying to find out the latest year and number in that year of Silverwing prodused,
and where they where sold

They are still listed new on the Honda UK website.

Whether this means they are still manufactured though is not certain. They may just still have stock in hand.

What model year? The site listed by Cookie seemed to be for the 2011.

Just came from the Honda shop. They had a 2013 on the floor!

The FJS Silver Wing they had had the NEC show earlier this month was the same A7 model that I bought new in November 2010. Why would there be anything different, Honda haven't changed anything on the UK spec Silver Wing for years.

All the changes which were mainly cosmetic are on the 2009 onwards SW-T Silver Wing 400 and 600 ABS models. Look on a few European Honda motorcycle importers websites if you want to see the specifications. It hardly matters because we still don't have it in the UK or the US.

What I am tying to find out is the claim that the last Silverwing 600
was made in 2013 in Slovakia.
Or not.

2013 was the last year they were manufactured.

It maybe is on the link, but it shows the price as £6999 which is the current UK price for the FJS 600 Silver Wing. Back in 2011 they were selling for £6000, the same as I paid for mine in late 2010.

I saw that one on the Honda stand at the NEC, had a good look around it, could see any differences to my 2008 model, externally anyway. The Kawasaki 300cc model looked nice in two tone green they were claiming 87 mpg. All the other makes were well represented too. Seems that scooters are in season

Brings up a good point. I don't think there are many NOS SWings left. Honda offers only the Forza 300 and the NM4. For me, the Forza is too small and the seating position is too cramped. The NM4 is just too weird looking for me and it uses chain final drive. I really can't get interested in either one. Yamaha's TMax is available, but it's pretty complex and very expensive. The BMW 650 GT is expensive and there have been issues with the cam chain tensioner. The Burgman 650 is generally to my liking, but I don't trust its transmission, which is prone to failure just outside warranty and is very expensive to repair. The Burgman 400 is relatively simple and pretty reliable and can be found for a reasonable price, but is a bit down on power. Having owned a Piaggio, I will never own another Italian machine, but that's a discussion for another day. Kymcos have virtually no support here locally.

All that to say that if Honda USA is listening....please, please....bring back the SWing here. Update it a bit, perhaps, but keep it simple, reliable and easy to maintain. That's my wish for New Year...

their website still shows 2013s for sale, but I imagine they're hard to get, with dealers trying to get rid of the ones thay have and not get stuck with them

That link was for the Silverwing page that is within the current Honda UK models website. I guess the address contains the number '2011' because the page in the site hasn't been updated since then. I suppose there wouldn't be much point since the scooter hasn't been updated since considerably before then

I have a US model 2013, bought as left over Feb 2014----I suspect probably made late 2012.

My area there seems to be plenty of left over 2013's available, and used one, too gathering dust in showrooms.

Problem as I see it in US at least----big scooter market is DEAD, they just are not selling! As somebody who likes to trade each year.....used/trade in prices have fallen badly. So I will probably ride mine out to 50,000 miles and see where we go from there. What would I like to buy? Burgman 650 might work(I think trans problems are not to worry about--most complainers have bought old/used with no known history), Burgman 400 ABS works for me, had 2 new ones....but they are heavy, getting older, 77 this year, dead weight is surely something to think about-----Could live with Honda Forza, GIVI even has rack and adjustable windshield available. I like Vespa, but lack of dealers/Italian parts service minus---can be made buffeting free with right choice of windshield, based on past experience with them.

Time will tell, I like Yamaha SR400---but the cost of adding luggage rack, top box, saddlebags (Hepco & Becker)to equal Japanese scooter underseat storage=turn off. Bike would work fine with National Cycle shield, I don't mind kick start-----had 1978 SR new=nothing broke.

For ten years prior to buying my Swing in September of this year I was flying general aviation aircraft on a regular basis for enjoyment. There are only about .5% of the US propulation that are licensed pilots. From stats and my personal observations I noted that the majority of US pilots are seniors. I see by what stats are available for US motorcycle riders (which includes all of us scooter riders) that a majority of riders are also seniors. Part of this may be the cost of the hobbies and indulgences we practice when our kids are grown and we are at or near retirement. I was told by an older pilot at Oshkosh one year that it also has to do with how much risk young people are willing to accept or how much effort they want to put into a hobby like flying or riding. If the stats are anywhere near correct as of 2012 only 2.5% of the US population are riders. Of that percentage maybe half ride with any frequency. There are a lot of cycle and scooters collecting dust most of the year. We risk takers are a rare and aging breed. The maxi-scooter market IS in decline although some continue to be sold world wide. I think a part of it is that young people are much less inclined to put in the effort or accept the modest risk of riding (or flying) and that is too bad as it reflects on the direction of our Amercian spirit. Just my thoughts...

Ken, Based on those stats, at 77+, our Mr Grinsel should be piloting the next NASA shuttle.

When I was younger I used to wonder how come all those cool bikes, boats and airplanes belonged to old geezers. Now that I am one I know only geezers can build up the cash to pay for those kind of toys.
