Just went to my honda dealer for the 20k checkup and told them to install either a cigarette lighter or power supply outlet in existing hole in left fairing. They were more than happy to do it, except the power outlet for the GW is the only one they carry and it will not fit the SW. Has anyone purchased a power outlet that will fit the existing hole in the left glove box? If so please give me the model, part number, and where you found it.

Or you could install a Powerlet plug and use a Powerlet plug->Cigarette Socket Adapter ( http://www.powerletproducts.com/shop-by-product/power-cables/PWRCBL )

You can get a cigarette-style socket (for the left glove box) at NAPA for about $10. Fits like a glove. Run a fused line straight from the battery and you can connect a battery tender through this plug to keep the battery up to snuff. I also installed a powerlet on the outside for a GPS. I used the precision-made GPS mount from Dennis B to attach the GPS to the SWing. Thanks Dennis. I'm interested in your running light mount too. --Scott in Maine

Do you by chance remember the model number, went by auto zone, but there are so many different sizes and most are made for specific car types, not hole sizes. From what the Honda dealer said, is my hole looks to be 25mm, looks like an inch to me but o well, I'll keep looking, thanks for the info.

Hey Jim... 1" does equal 25.4 mm ... if the hole looks like an inch to you and 25 mm to the honda guy ... both of you have pretty good eyes... .4mm is gonna be hard to see with the naked eye... (can I say Naked here?)

For interest's sake I've posted a few pictures in my album of my surface-mounted socket, bearing in mind EU Silverwings come with the cigar-lighter socket already in the cubby:

Thanks Mike for the thread, have ordered all the parts and have read your instructions. As soon as the parts get here, will give it a try. Thanks again for the info, glad once again I have joined this forum site.

Of course I just let my dealer do everything power supply outlet Icon_smile They put an outlet the left glove box for me and I had them do it so when the key is off, it is off. I got a GPS for Christmas and I'm looking forward to trying it out this spring. That is if the snow ever melts. We are still down in Florida and it is the worst weather we have ever had here. But it still beats the snow....

My Honda dealer has of yet not been able to find a unit that fits the hole, what unit did they install?

According to DaveR (Old Dave of Western Nebraska) the Gold Wing part is a plug and play. power supply outlet Icon_cheers power supply outlet Icon_cheers power supply outlet Icon_cheers

You can get the socket at advance auto parts stores for about $6.00 and it is the same size as hole in the left glove box .Also get a inline fuse holder for about $3.00 total is about $9.00.

If as you say, the ones for Swings are the Same as Goldwing ones, then you can buy them easily and cheaply at Cyclemax Ohio, which is a Goldwing specialist after market supplier who are very good and helpful. Unfortunately, being a new member I am unable to add a link here, but easily found with Google.

My Honda dealer installed mine at time of purchase. I do remember that they had to order the unit in to get the correct one. Sorry I don't know the numbers.

Here is a link to Cyclemax's power outlets for Goldwings which Foxy mentions:

https://cyclemax.com/inc/searchresults?s=Power%20outlet&ss=Power%20outlet&n=319089

But which one fits the Silverwing? I tried one Goldwing power outlet only to find that the screw-on mount collar was too large for the space available behind the panel.

Evidently the Goldwing units don't work right. My dealer had those but still had to order the Silver Wing unit in...
