WTB Givi T-435

Hi All, I am looking for a Givi T-435 Tunnel Bag. They've been discontinued by Givi in favor of a new design. However that new design is pretty lame and doesn't meet my needs.

I'm hoping that some of the folks on the forum from Europe, who've been scooting for much longer than we here in the US, may come across of a dusty old unloved T-435 sitting in the back of the shed.

But if anyone has one, or otherwise knows of a Givi T-435 Tunnel Bag for sale, please PM me or post here. Mike?...Uncle Meldrew? ...Mr Grinsel?

I have one----don't know what I paid----sell for half of what they cost plus post age ----all parts there plus Velcro on bottom of bag. figure out what it cost. I do not use it much---figure out what I paid---I got mine after they were kinda off the market

I am not interested in this later tunnel bag which Givi is using as a replacement for the older version. It just wont work for my needs:

I have the one without handle on top and no lower ears. Works fine without straps and Velcro to keep it on.

If having a handle on the top of a tunnel bag is important to you, instead of trying to find this Givi T-435 which was discontinued a few years ago, why not buy a Moto-Detail Scooter bag. It has a carrying handle on the top and I've used one for the last 7 years on three different maxi scooters.

I can't say I've ever used the carrying handle on the top and I removed all the unnecessary Fastex junk on my bag. I Velcro my bag to the tunnel of the Silver Wing and the female Velcro pads will only adhere to the tunnel if all traces of polish are removed from the plastic. Heat from the engine and the tenacity of the male Velcro on the bottom flaps of the tunnel bag can also pull the pads off the tunnel whel removing the bag to refuel. I can live with that as I only use a  tunnel bag on the outward and return legs of Euro tours. Cocking my leg over the bag getting on and of the scooter becomes tiresome after a while.

It's not the Givi bag but at least you can buy them,and if you want one they're widely available on this side of the Atlantic and Google will show you who sells them. Then there's none of this "They're too expensive" nonsense like there was when U.S. members wanted to buy Honda leg wind deflectors from the UK.

Thanks for the Moto-Detail recommendation Meldrew. It looks good and I'll certainly give it some consideration if I am unable to locate that Givi T-435. But the T-435 is the one I'm looking for.

According to the GetGeared website the Moto Detail bags are no longer available. This must have happened quite recently.
I bet there are still some about, though.

Regarding the hook-and-loop strips for sticking on the tunnel I have it on very good authority that it will never stick satisfactorily on the usual scooter tunnel-type plastic.

I am sworn not to name names but just think 'horse's mouth'.

I recently bought The Moto-Detail tunnel bag from Louis here in Vienna for my summer trip to England and it was perfect (especially with the top handle!), for stops at B&B on route. I managed to pack everything I needed into it for an overnight stop (including coffee making facilities!). I didn't bother with the velcro tabs, as the bag fits very snugly into the Silverwing's recess and my legs were always resting either side of the bag while riding. When I stopped to refuel or to lay my weary head, I simply pulled the bag off by the handle. Another useful aspect of this product is that it is very easy to unzip the top at a quick stop to pop on or off a scarf or sunglasses OR, as was the case this summer, to pop on the waterproof cover that comes supplied! All in all, for €30 I would say that it has been one of the best add-ons I have bought for the bike when it comes to touring!

The two large shaped Velcro pads that came with my Moto-Detail tunnel bag had very tenacious adhesive on them. When it was time to sell my 650 Burgman it was quite difficult to remove them and the adhesive residue from the tunnel.

Of course to get any Velcro to stick to the plastic of a scooter tunnel you have to clean off and remove all traces of polish, ArmorAll, even the legendary Lemon Pledge.

I did that and stuck female Velcro patches of the Silver Wings tunnel at least 3 months before I used the tunnel bag on it. They were firmly fixed and unaffected by rain but the male Velcro on the sides of the bag still has the adhesion to pull off the female pads on the tunnel unless you slowly tear them apart. It's a good job male and female pubic hair doesn't work like that!

As steveonfarm says, it's not really a problem (Hi SteVe!) as the bag is a snug fit in the tunnel recess.

He also mentioned the raincover, I don't like it and usually use the raincover off a Chase Harper tank bag which has a clear plastic top panel. Before sat nav I relied on laminated route cards which I placed on top of the tunnel bag with the Chase Harper cover over the top. It's also a better fit and higher quality than the Moto-Detail one.

I had a battle with Oxford Products over the claim that the hook-and-loop strips would stick permanently on the tunnel plastic on the X9.
It was refuted by the company who made the stuff but OxProds 'stuck to their guns'and would not admit they were wrong.

I am aware that using any fixing is unnecessary although I attached a cord between bag and scooter as a safely measure.

I have had problems getting velcro type self adhesive strips to stick to the plastic trim on several machines.  I have been told that the plastic has silicone in it and this reduces adhesion however clean you make it .

The best tunnel bag I've ever used was a modified Chase-Harper Europa tank bag left over from my BMW GS days. I used it for years on my Helix because it fitted perfectly in the gap and after removing the base mat all I had to do was run a couple of nylon straps under the bottom of the Helix to the Fastex buckles on each corner of the bag. I used it exactly like a tank bag, it held a pile of kit, you could expand it to make it even larger, and it was easy to step over getting on and off the Helix.

Sadly the bag is too big to fit on any of the maxi-scooters I've had since that's why I bought the Moto-Detail bag. Other GS era surplus stuff kicking around are a pair of Aerostich tank panniers that would make good small throw overs on the right scooter, and a set of Wüdo roll top waterproof bags that strap onto the tops of hard panniers.

I had a moment of madness last week when I thought about fitting my Givi E52 to the front carrier of my Dutch push bike, but it's too large and has a backrest fitted. Maybe I can use those Aerostich tank panniers on the rear carrier. Off the top of my head I also know my bike is shod with Shwalbe Big Apple tyres and they're a lot easier to pump up than the Bridgestone Hoops on my Silver Wing.

All this stuff is totally of topic of course, but hand ups how many on here actually have a tunnel bag?  

Is this a Silverwing version of a Mexican Wave going on here?

T455 and loving it. Used it on my recent trip to the Oregon Coast.
Like to have my wallet, phone and iPad where I can see them. Find it a tight fit so only use the velcro pads for securing. Legs also on either side so pretty safe from coming off.
