Ive got an 04 silverwing and I have been driving it back and forth to work. It is all highway and I do my best to maintan about 70 miles per hour. I'm getting 44-45 miles per gallon. Is that what you all are getting? I was hoping to get better, and I think I get about 55 mpg around town. Anybody else a tight wad that checks thier milage everytime they fill up? What are you getting?

My SW is a 2003 and a mix of highway and city is an average slightly under 47. I'm hoping the warmer weather and better gas will give a higher mileage as other posts have indicated.

Being OCD, I track my mileage constantly.

Since I purchased mine in December , I 'm averaging 46.72 mpg over the
2545 miles I've put on it so far.

I've been told I'm somewhat anal. Too many years military I guess. To be exact, mine is 46.83 and I also check each tank.

Some of the riders here use the fuelly (www.fuelly.com) program to check their mileage. You will notice it on their signature area. I usually check my mileage when I fill up, but am not anal about it.There are too many variables. Unless there is a significant drop, I don't worry about it.

I have an 'o4 and use a pocket calculator. I don't ride as fast as most of you.
I get 52-55 most of the time. Once in Missouri with a good tailwind all day I got 67.

I'm neither anal nor suffer OCD but for a biker I believe keeping an eye on fuel consumption to be essential to avoid embarrassment.

I commute some 50+ miles a day. I average about 45 to 49. My ride is a good mix of restricted 30mph to throttle fully open.

Enjoy the Wing, it begs to be ridden.

Just about all our rides on my 04 SWing are for pleasure, (my work commute is a mile and a half by cycle!) so I don't worry too much about fuel consumption. That said, when I do check, I seem to be getting around 50mpg.
Don't usually go too fast, 60-70mph, otherwise there's a funny whining noise starts up from just behind me!! Laughing

I ride 66 miles round trip to and from work almost every day. I have been using www.Fuelly.com to track mileage and $$ on the swing and both cars. I cracked on the the ears on the Givi tall screen and went back to the stock screen and 24g dr sliders and getting about 52 ish now. With the weather getting warmer, it is a little better.

Highway milage

I have been riding in Florida for the last three and a half months,we ride in all areas, towns, country and some interstate,I am riding a 2010 ABS and have consistantly got between 55.5 and 56.7 mpg,I do not baby the scoot and love to run off from the big cruisers after stops up to highway speeds. Two of my buddies ride 2002 swings and average about 2.5 MPG less than I do on the same rides.

I have the 2005 Swing and "if" I keep the RPM at "below" 5000, it gets 50mpg. If I push the interstate speeds of 75 on the GPS it will average in the 42-44 range. I do have a lot of accessories and I weigh about 230 lbs with my riding gear on. If I am planning a trip, I will figure my mpg at 42 mpg. The Silverwing is not as conservative as the Bergman. The fellow I ride with averages 63 mpg on his Bergman. And yes, I have "Sliders."

Good on You getting that kind of mileage. . . My 2005 will not do that and I have tried everything. Maybe I weigh too much or am dragging my feet!

I used to get very close to 50 mpg during the summer, and it would go down to 45 in the winter. Trips are shorter (so the choke is used more in proportion to the length of the ride), my GIVI screen is on (I use the stock screen with a Laminar Lip for the summer) and my JCosta variator is wearing, causing slightly higher revs most of the time.

I also tend to ride like a bat out of hell. A J Costa will make you do that! But, my highway speeds rarely stay over 70 mph, and most of it is two lane backroads at 55-70 mph.

Your mpg does not seem out of proportion to what I've experienced.

Agree...your mileage seems about right.

I find if I keep it at 65-70 indicated on the freeway, mileage is about 45-50 mpg. At 70-75, mileage runs about 40-45. I personally have no need to get more accurate than that, as extending mileage calcs out to hundredths of a gallon is sort of meaningless in real world application, at least in my mind. I simply plan on worst case scenario...that is, lowest mileage, and plan my refueling stops accordingly...

I have a 2010 silverwing with approx. 4000 miles on it. I am getting an average of 58 miles per gal. This is with my wife and I most of the time. weight is 250 & 120 total of 370 lbs. My riding is 80% back roads @ 45 to 55 mph and 20% highway 65 to 80 mph. To me this is unbelievable love it. Had at least 20 different motorcycles Gold wings,st 1100, st1300, bmw r1200rs, bmw k1200 rs. v strom cb 750, as well as a yamaha 400 scooter and could not get more than 38 to 40 mpg. Sure glad that i bought a wing .

As said earlier, "if" you keep at or below 5000 RPM you will get the best MPG.
They seem to have the Silverwing set to operate that way. If you get above the 5000 RPM, you are asking for less MPG., and the more you try to push the limits, your gas mileage really takes a drop.

Howdy. I just completed a 1900 mile trip into central Oregon and Washington. The CVT belt and rollers were replaced before I left. I experienced an increase in fuel mileage, which I monitored pretty carefully. Here are the stats:

Highest fuel mileage: 55.1 mpg
Lowest fuel mileage: 45.4 mpg
Average fuel mileage: 50.1 mpg
Approx safe range: 150 miles per full tank

Speeds varied widely, but included tight two-lane twisty roads, fast two-lane highways and some interstate....65-70 on the two lanes and 70-75 on the interstate, with bursts to 80 on the interstate and 90 passing semis...

70 mph was about 5200 rpm...80 was about 6000 or so.

That's the most current, and most accurate, fuel mileage data I have...
