Hello to everybody

I have just become the owner of a 2010 SW with ABS with just over 700 Kms on the clock. It still has to have it's first service. I last rode a bike in 1983 before I was married and have waited years to get back onto two wheels.

My home is in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have not found a local group but hope that others from my area will post rides for my country.

Welcome to silverwing600 Kevin. Can't say I recall any one from your neck of the woods on here, not to say there isn't though.

To be honest even where I live on the south coast of the UK I am in a minority group of Silver Wing riders. Loads of scooterists but very few 'Wing' riders.

Hope you stay and share your riding experiences around SA, have been fortunate to visit Cape Town what must be another life time ago - fantastic.

Yes, Cape Town is beautiful and has recently voted in the top five most beautiful cities in the world.

As I have just had the Silver Wing less than a month, I have not been out on the open road yet but we do have a couple of rides that the bikers here call "The Breakfast Run" which is just a description for any ride (usually on a weekend) that is terminated at a venue to enjoy breakfast. Some go out to Hartebeespoort Dam area and others to the Cradle on Mankind. I will post my rides, hopefully with pictures.

Welcome Kevin... anyone from the SOUTH of anywhere will get along real easy here. But expect one member to start complaining about ALL Southern anything or anybody. You being the first (maybe) of Silverwing owner of your country, a lot of us are anxious to see some pictures real soon. All I know about South Africa, I read in National Geographic magazines way back in the 50s and 60s. Would love to experience some of your unique scenery.

Welcome Kevin, I have a brother who woked in Soth Africa for a number of years. He loved it. My niece was born there-whitest afro-american I know. You can correct typos by going to the edit box in the upper right hand corner. Not that I ever admit missteaks, but I heard that Opelsboy once made one.

Hello from me - belatedly.

An aside: the founder of the X9OC is South African and moved back there a few years ago.
He rides a big BMW now but if you ever bumped into him he'd be a good chap to ride with.
I'll have to check whether he's in Jo'burg or Cape Town now.
