| I guess I'd better join up and introduce myself since I've been lurking and picking everyone's brains (reading posts) for a couple of months now.
I'm up on Flathead Lake about 40 miles SW of Glacier NP. I've been riding since 1963 but recently got into scooters via an '86 Honda Helix that sort of dropped into my lap last June. I put about 3000 miles on the Helix over the summer including 2 800+ mile trips but found it to be just a tad underpowered for some of the spots I ended up. There are really no freeways but most of the 2 lanes are 70 mph posted.
Last week I picked up a 2008 SW with 2500 miles on it for $4k. December is a lousy time for riding up here but it is a great time for buying. I had looked at this bike back in Sept but the price then was $6k and I wasn't that excited about the lack of ABS and the grey color. Well, as they say price can fix anything so it's now in the garage waiting for a new taller windshield and a Russell seat.
I usually post at the Maxi-scooters site under the same name and have a couple of my trips on there with pix of Montana and Idaho for anyone interested.
Thanks to all of you for posting up such good information. It helped in my decision making and will I'm sure help with my enjoyment of the new Wing. At least once March or April get here and I can ride the thing.
PS I'm definitely keeping the Helix. It's just so fun and funky looking. |

| I spent a summer evening drinking at the road house in Polson and then sleeping in a van at the campground by the lake. What a beautiful area. Hot during the day and cool/cold at night. Great looking girls in the bar from what I vaguely remember. Oh yeah, the roads must be great for 2 wheeling. |

No, it's a Jack Russell seat. The guy sits on a dead dog. |

Offers two options
1) "Day-Long" Touring Saddles 2) Recover Stock or Other After-Market Backrests
I doubt they will "recover" a dead dog._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| H_S Yup, Russell Day-long. The Helix is the most comfortable 2 wheeler I've ever owned and I don't want anything less for the SW.
BB The roads up here are wonderful for 2 wheels. Except for the Bambi-bumping. And the elk. The occasional moose. And 2 years ago a guy on a GW nailed a bear down by Polson. Oh, and a couple of years before that a biker hit a mountain lion- that's one you really hope you kill. But other than that... |

| Welcome to the site and look around, you will find some good info and great people too. I sent Maggie the .pdf's when she redid the maxi-scoots site with SWing pictorials but you can download them here after logging in. There are quite a few for general maintenance. _________________ Ride Safe,

That site is a real piece of work. Unless you're one of the accepted few, you are either ignored or quickly dismissed as an aggravation interfering with their mutual stroking of each other's egos. Our site is a flowering oasis in the desert of scootering. Theirs is just a thorn infested overnight pit stop. |

| Welcome from Seattle. I had a Honda Helix and I agree that it is the most comfortable scooter, period. I really enjoy my Silverwing and I am sure you will too. Ride that sucker over to Seattle and we will ride Highway 20 over the North Cascades Pass. Here is my Goldwing on the North Cascades Pass |
