I just recently purchase a new 2011 Silverwing with ABS.
I have put 300 miles on it so far and love the Scooter.

| Yikes! You're going to drive it on Florida Highways with old ladies driving boats at 40 and impatient hot rodders doing 85+? At least that is what we got at Boca Raton. But the roads sure are nice.
Give you bike a break in period but she will handle the highway fine. I routinely ride at 70-75 down I-270 north of D.C.
I'm a newbie rider since this winter and find that now that I am getting used to riding, I ride too fast - 10-15 over the speed limit way too often. It may look roomy and be scooter but it the handling feels very responsive and "sporty". I still have to work a little to keep it on a good line. It's easy to turn sharper than you want with just a little nudge. On the other hand I took a turn very slowly where I leaned it way over and thought I was going down, but a little twist and she stood right up. Yup, great bike. |

A little tip I learned from our police was when in a slow turn and you wish to sharpen the turn or tighten the turn, open the throttle and the bike will turn in a smaller radius. Works too. Where I live I have a nice few hairpins that inexperienced riders take very - very slowly whereas I and a little local knowledge, speed around it, banking right over and opening the throttle. The 'Wing' turns on a sixpence for us Brits or I suppose that would be a dime for you chaps and chapettes across the pond!!  |

| I will have to look up the site but in St. Pete there is active scooter club 250cc and up I plan on joinning in with them when I get down for the winter |

| A warm welcome to you WBonnette from another SilverWinger on this board. You should have a lot of fun on your new scoot and Florida roads are easy--straight and level, and usually paved well. I used to live there once upon a time. I'm actually heading out to visit my mother who still lives in Jupiter, Florida tomorrow, so I may be passing through tubeck's corner of the woods at some point. Also intend to see the Florida Keys this time around.  Unfortunately not heading there by scooter but by flying in and driving there.  |

The St Petersburg scooter club meets every Thursday at Biff Burger on 49th.st.and 39th.av.N at 6:30 and go on a nice ride hear in the bay area.
