I wanted to see what the possibility is of making the Akrapovic titanium muffler with or without the mid pipe connect up to our stock header on the Silverwing. I cannot find the measurements for our stock header where it connects to our muffler pipe and I am having a hard time finding the diameter of the Akrapovic connector where it links to header / mid pipe!

I was wondering if anyone knows how to source this information quickly so that I can determine whether or not it might be worth it to pick up a used can off ebay for $100 that is a made for a 600 to 750cc sport bike. My guess is that the increase in top end power would be about as good as is possible with any tuned muffler.

Feel free to give me your opinions good or bad on this subject and if you have a way to find the measurements to help speed up my decision that would be awesome!

Scott

For the stock header, it's not too difficult to separate the pipe from the muffler, use a vernier or telescoping gauge, and measure the i.d. of the pipe.

For the Akrapovic, why don't you email their tech support and ask them for the i.d. of the particular muffler you're interested in?

I did actually send off a couple of measurement questions to the owners on ebay that are selling theirs from CBR600 and one other 600cc sport bike. I've gotta believe a little fabrication could damn near make anything fit as long as it is worth the time and effort. I can get that muffler for only $100.00 and it's as straight through for performance as anything else on the market. I would like to see if someone makes a custom stepped header pipe from the head to improve scavenging effects.

When honda designed the motor for the S'wing, it did so for a slow rpm/torque motor.
You will have to do more than a new/different pipe.
it is also limited for RPMs by the ECM box.

Lots of changes to get more power.

Try different variator weights first and see wht happens, it will put you in the power band on takeoff, thus getting the most from what you have.

Pursuing HP increases in the Silverwing engine may be a costly endeavour. Squeezing more HP out of a stock engine always comes at a price, be it in parts and/or reliability. I understand your need for max HP and I wish you luck and hope you have deep pockets.
