Completed the Experienced Rider Course on SWing yesterday. Have taken course 6-8 times, but this was first on scooter. Perhaps tight U turns will be easier now. Feel better now about riding scooter, after 55 years and 400-500k miles of riding.
Training is like money or sex, you can never have too much. Smile

What is the procedure for handling those tight turns?

In general, for tight turns, use rear brake and throttle, look where you want to go (head turn).

It would be best if you can take the MSF courses to practice.

Except, in their infinite wisdom, Honda made it impossible to use "only" the rear brake.

Well done on passing Texas Winger.

Regards the tight turns, I assume we are talking slow speed, confined area!

It is possible that someone has already tagged this video, but it is worth watching. The rider applies the rear brake to reduce the down force on the fork and turn more easily.

I did the slalom during my license examination, but this is really well done.

I took ERC re-fresh on Reflex several years ago----the clutch/gas/rear brake coordinadtion that is necessary to do it right on conventional bike is not a big issue with MSP----it passes right over most instructor's heads.

My first scooter with linked brakes= Reflex, I tested it in mud/snow/wet before buying and always the rear came on first? and at least it was first to slide.

With SilverWing I on regular basis used a touch of left lever as balancing aide with no ill effects.

The video mentioned above is probably from Japan where riding standards are very high. Notice Scooter brake lite coming on and off at each cone.

Even though MSF stuff isn't very good---designed to sell bikes and sponsored by industry--- and turns out parking lot specialists-taking a course every couple of years does not hurt anything. My MSF Instructor card is dated 1974.
