PostSubject: Itro from New Mexico, USA   Thu Oct 07, 2010 8:09 pm

I sold my 93 Helix that I'd owned since 97 and bought a used 07 Silverwing with ABS. Not really the color I wanted, but it was in my state and only 2000 miles on the odo and my wife likes the color. Have put nearly 1000 miles on it in since getting it a month ago.
I'm 64 years old, been riding since I was 15. I live in Bloomfield, NM
I have a Givi E30 top box that I bought for the Helix and never installed. I will attempt to put it on the Silverwing with the universal bracket I had for the Helix.

Welcome aboard. That's some beautiful country out there in New Mexico. What's it take, about an hour, to cover four states? Only someone who has been there would understand that. motorcycle

Hello Dale, and welcome aboard. You should be able to afix that givi box using the universal plate alright, though you may have some flex/wobble under the plate since it's flat and the mounting surface is not. I did it with my givi Flow, and it's worked out fine. Maybe stick a little foam or something in there to tighten it up.

I've ridden through your area a couple of times on my way up toward Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, etc. I live down near Madrid, NM. I think you're the first other NM Swing rider I've encountered.

Ride safe.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I am indeed, in the heart of the four corners and it is great riding country and weather. Lots of it too, as New Mexico is the 5th largest state in the union. Lots of varied scenery of which I was reminded when I trailered to Hobbs, NM to pick up my Swing. The Eastern part of the state is much like west Texas. I went down at night and came back in the daytime, darned if it didn't look the same both ways.

Now Dale,
Let's not get all the Texans upset by saying the obvious -- east of the Sandia and west of the Brazos is really the same bit of miles and miles of nothing but mile and miles.

Welcome to our world. The last time I was through Bloomfield was in 1999, on my way home from the Roadrunner (BMW) rally in Payson, AZ. About 20 miles or so west of Bloomfield I had to put on the rain suit. This was about Memorial Day, so it was expected.

But I ramble, which I'm prone to doing.

Wow, if your avatar is an example of your work, artist just barely describes it. Do you sell prints? Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks Dale.

I have a bit of a website -- shows a lot of my work. www.joncallihan.com

No, I don't have any way to make prints. But my originals are not expensive, about $75 a square foot, when I get the chance to sell one.

The three bronze bears are listed at $1000 (why me lord), $1500 (life is good) and $2000 (nap time). "nap time" is currently being exhibited in the Lafayette Community Show, first place in the sculpture category. I have "one life is good" and two "nap times" available. alien beamed up

We have friends in Alamogordo and love to ride through the mountains. It's a great ride up that mountain just east of Alamo have you ridden that?

No, I have not ridden it, but we were in that area 3 weeks ago with our Jensen-Healey for a British car rally. We made several runs between Ruidoso and Alamagordo via route 70 through Tularosa. Beautiful country for sure, and such a contrast from White Sands.
