| Last September we had a bit of a problem with some tires and I wrote about it ( http://www.silverwing600.com/safety-section-f11/dunlop-scootline-sx01-tires-t48.htm ) to inform y'all. Last month we headed out on a ride with our North Alabama Scooter group to ride over to the Natchez Trace and then north a bit for lunch and return to Huntsville. This would be about a 270 mile ride. About 150 miles in I thought the front tire was making a good bit of noise and the front end did not feel right in the bars. We stopped and I checked the surface of the tire, but did not see anything out of the ordinary. I had checked the tires before we set out, both for defects in the surface and correct pressures. When we arrived at our lunch destination I made a u-turn and noticed some pretty significant bumping in the ride and some movement (left to right to left) in the bars. I knew there was a problem with the tire, but we still had about 90 miles to go to get home so I did not tell Kim. --Serious safety note here - This was/is a serious tire failure and I probably should have not ridden the bike any further without making a repair. Mea culpa, my life my risk (he writes, very selfishly/foolishly.) -- We rode home and the handling continued to get worse. Right and left turns were not pleasant. The front end wobbled pretty viciously and the tire roar was loud. After parking the bikes in the garage I propped the front up and spun the tire. The outer rubber is fully lossened from the inner tire. There is a soft air filled pocket between the twon and I can feel the tacky glue make an effort to bond then release. I took the bike out to the end of the cul-de-sac we live on and rode slowly around the grass island. The bars wobble (deflection of about 30 degrees in both directions) when going in a tight turn. End of experiment. When we had the tire problem last fall the folks at Dunlop told me they had not experienced this problem with the front tires. Well now I think I have a new problem for them. _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL 2 x 2005 - Hers & HisBoots, socks, underwear, pants, t-shirt, jacket, gloves, & helmet. http://www.youtube.com/user/jdeereantonPlease vote for me to become the emperor of permissible thought and opinion. I believe you could call the tow service to tow it home ... I would tell them you will replace the tire at home.

I am not sure I would buy a Dunlop, they seem to be having consistent quality problems which can be very dangerous to the rider. _________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS

| Well it finally happened. Kim's front tire now has a very large knot in it where the outer rubber is comming loose from the inner tire.
Awesome. I really am done with this bunch of tires. Unfortunate for us and for Dunlop. They were getting pretty good mileage, just a poor manufacturing process. _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL 2 x 2005 - Hers & HisBoots, socks, underwear, pants, t-shirt, jacket, gloves, & helmet. http://www.youtube.com/user/jdeereantonPlease vote for me to become the emperor of permissible thought and opinion. The Dunlop tires are too unreliable and dangerous. _________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS
