early spring trip--TN and NC

Took a early spring 2 day trip in TN and NC. 499 total miles. Some notes:

Got cold=my fault, I use a 15 year old feather jacket as liner under my Darien Jacket. Feathers have lot their loft. Jacket now washed and retired as liner. Have fleece and wind blocker waiting for next trip.

Kombat Lite boots from Aerotich with jeans tucked in worked fine, no cold feet or pants flapping. Long underwear of course.

No rain

Hands warm. Cheap ski gloves from WalMart/Langlitz leather gloves as temps warmed up.

50-55mpg=bike running fine

My bad choice of tire combo---could be felt now and then

Final: My Fulmer AF755 helmet made its last trip---foam breaking/broken down=too much airflow. Helmet now in retired box. I find it heavy but high quality face shield. My neck, a result of deer strike 1990 in Switzerland, is very sensitive to helmet weight and swing. I have 2 lighter helmets in waiting, a Vega and a Fulmer.

Strong Winds/buffeting real distraction!!
