sorry, newbie question

What is the weight of the wing topped off with all fluids? Just seeing how much less it weighs than my 950 V-Star.

AH, found it! 540 pounds with all fluids topped off. My V-Star as currently equipped comes in at 657 pounds. So, the little wing saves me 117 pounds.  Nice weight saving and easier on this 64 year old body.

Some of the reviews I read about the Silverwing state that the Swing is heavy. Compared to wrestling the GWing, the Swing is as light as a feather.

  I've found that the center of gravity seems lower than on some other motorcycles I have had.


 Just stay away from that left hand "clutch".  :lol!:

Will make sure to do "clutchless" shifting and will only use it for slowing down. Thanks for the safety note.

The Silverwing is 25lbs lighter than my C650GT. I've owned the SW, the GT and a B650. None of them felt particularly heavy but that might have come from riding Goldwings for better than 15 years. The CG of these machines (except possibly the B650) are quite low because their engines are more compact since they don't house a transmission. Also they are almost horizontal twins which makes all the heavy machinery very low in the chassis. Much more so than on conventional motorcycles. If you want light do what I did a couple years ago. I mounted a Chinese two stroke 40cc motor kit on a lightweight bicycle. It's weight was about 60lbs with full fuel. Top speed was about 35mph. Seemed very fast, especially with bicycle brakes. Lots of fun though and fulfilled a longing I had for a Whizzer motorbike my mother wouldn't let me buy about sixty years ago. Too bad I didn't have a paper route for my home rigged motorbike.

The other side to that particular "coin" is what can happen after you get used to the Silver Wing's left hand brake lever.

If you also ride a standard motorcycle you might forget you're not on the Wing and find yourself pulling that left lever to slow down. Well, the opposite happens if you're going downhill!

Even after several months on my Silver Wing, I still occasionally pull the clutch to change up to second when accelerating briskly away from the lights. That's when I'm glad I have ABS.
