help with rear wheel

just had my swing a few months 05 plate but added a few miles already,
one thing bothering me is the judder i get on the rear end, it feels like my wheel is loose, it does not seem to be, only done 11k.
i thought it was just maybe when i hit a groove in the road, it has just beent serviced recently and the tyres are the correct pressure.
was wandering if my suspension is on the correct setting and if that would make much of a difference,

any help would be appreciated

Can you describe when this judder happens?

You may just need to remove the wheel check the bearings and grease the splines...

Noticed you just had service performed - did they remove the rear wheel?

I had a new rear tire installed at the dealer and rode short distance home with no issues. However, while performing a pre-ride check, I noticed that there was side-to-side play that wasn't there before the tire change - back to the dealer. The service manager checked out my issue, said that isn't right and immediately pushed the scoot back into the shop. About 15 minutes later it was back out and no more side play - believe the tech didn't torque the nut properly. Although I didn't experience anything like your "judder" on just a few miles, could your issue be something as simple as this?

Mot due shortly and i may change rear tyre anyway

Dont think wheel was removed and tyre is the original i have a replaced the front.
Judder seems to be only at speed which makes me think i was getting caught is some grooves in the road, but it has made me very wary now,

I weigh about 235 lbs. and use #2 setting most of the time while riding alone. Sometimes go up to #3 on smooth surface twistie roads for a little more control.

Maybe the tyre's out of balance, has a weight dropped off?

Rear springs should be at fourth setting from the factory.JMO though

I put mine onto 5 before and had a good run out,
seemed alot better it was on number 1

I'm fine riding solo with the rear shocks on 3 with or without touring gear. When I've Mrs M along as passenger I'll set them to 5, and put more air in the tyres. When it's just me again I'll set the shocks back to 3 and lower the tyre pressures.

I saw an older Swing with a loose steering head bearing that did something similar. Are you SURE it is the rear where you're feeling this? I only ask because I would have bet someone $100 that it was the rear tire (and we in fact replaced the rear tire, rebalanced it, etc). It felt like an out-of-balance tire (in fact, an out of balance REAR tire).

You need to relieve tension on the brake lines and then test using the procedure in the service manual to check that bearing with a fishing scale - just lifting the front end and moving the bars bank and forth didn't find any problems for us. It can be a bear to get to that bearing, unfortunately, but tightening the heck out of it sure helped the ride (in fact, that scoot now is smoother at speed than my 2012!).

If it really is rear wheel, than this obviously isn't it.

I don't think the rear suspension adjustment would do it. FWIW, I weight about 200 lbs and set mine at '3'.

so higher the setting for the heavier person, so in reality i should be on setting 1, going to play about twith it today, once the snow clears, beautifull sunny day here in the borders
