PostSubject: Intro from Indiana   Tue Oct 06, 2009 6:09 pm

Hi all, I've been lurking here for a couple of months.

I'm a long time rider. As A matter of fact my first ride was on a Cushman scooter that belonged to my cousin back in 1964.
I have been riding my own since '65.
Some dirt and over 350k on street machines mostly Honda.
Presently I have 2 reflex's (soon to be the kids, ages 32 and 34). A VTX1300 and a Old goldwing in restore mode.
I got interested in scooters last year when my daughter wanted me to find her a good scooter. Found a good reflex and fixed it up. In the process before taking to her, I found it to be a real hoot to ride. I called it my UAV 'urban assault vehicle" .

After delivery , I missed it and continued looking, found a second Reflex and got it up to snuff. MY son came home from China for an extended visit this last summer and I took it up to him to use for the two months he was here. (Still no scoot for me HAHAHA)
When he left it was at my daughter and sil place.
I went up to pick it back up and he almost cried when we put it on the trailer.
Any way A few weeks after bringing it back, a friend told me of a silverwing near his house. Nah OK.
we were out riding one Saturday and he said follow him back to see the S'wing.
OK and WOW ... '03 candy red and 1375 miles on it. Not a scratch. he wanted $4k for it. Went home and thought about it for a week. Called him up and offered $3750. He called back and now it's mine.

In a month I have now doubled the mileage. So, the Son in law gets the reflex back. (now if I could get them to pay for one HAHAHA)

PS already farkled some, grip puppies, cup holder, cig lighter, working on GPS bracket. Seat mod (I'm tall) etc. and Honda tail trunk with custom bracket.

MaxB,

Welcome to the forum! The Reflex is such a great scooter - I think of it as the gateway drug to the SilverWing. Quite a few SilverWing riders get thier start on the Reflex.

What model GL are you rebuilding? Enjoy the ride.

I have a 84 GL Interstate that I put 178K miles on that sat for a few years due to me in an accident and job commitments. It's almost like an old horse that you own. too old to ride much but would go to the renderers if sold. Lots of memories in that one.

Drbyte,

You should go to www.allsuperscooters.com and look up WPB (Bill Gooden). He rides a Burgman 650 and lives in Lafayette, Indiana. There are others too in that area. But welcome to you and MaxB here.
