honda silverwing regulator

Honda Silverwing 2008 Can someone please tell me where to locate regulator as this might be faulty

To the best of my knowledge the Regulator/Rectifier is a Honda only
part.It is located in the right front cowl area behind a fresh air grill.
You can find information in the shop manual,page 18-8.If you do not have a over haul manual I would advise you to get one. Do some searching on the Forum.The alternator and regulator/rectifier checking procedure has also been discussed here before. Howard

According to the service manual, you have to remove the front cover to access it. Others may have more information.

Just replaced mine this spring. Gotta remove the front cover for sure to get to.

Before digging in, check the stator function at the engine to be sure your rectifier is faulty.

It's behind the front cowling on right side. Just had the cover off in the past 2 weeks to add a power plug on the opposite side.

You can find a new Silverwing service manual at Helm Inc. they reprint original Honda manuals. Not cheap but worth every penny if you work on your own bike.

Voltage regulator 2008 honda silverwing 600 Will any other year of regulator be okay

The voltage regulators are easily obtainable from Amazon UK. £40.12p post paid either for the ABS models 03 onwards or non  ABS  01-06 at the same price, or $39.99 for USA members on Ebay. A search on Google will no doubt show a lot more suppliers.

These regulators are from China or other foreign countries. What about qualitity

They may well be from China but to be honest what isn't these days. I have purchased replacement parts from Ebay, Wemoto and other suppliers and never questioned the country of origin and to be fair (touch wood) never had a problem. The only time that I buy genuine replacement parts is for fork seals and belt etc or if a part is unobtainable elsewhere. You buy what you feel satisfied with, I just posted what you could buy them for its up to you whether you purchace them or not.

There's China and Taiwan which a lot of people don't differentiate between. Taiwanese parts seem to be as good as anyone's these days. Kymco builds engines for Honda, BMW and others in one of the world's most modern engine plants. Chinese products have improved a lot as well.
I remember when I was a kid stuff from 'occupied Japan' was cheap and junk. No one on the world thinks Japanese quality is anything less than first drawer now. I believe China is rapidly losing it's reputation for junk and is following the course of Japan and Korea improvement.
