hi all
i am a old rider but a new owner ... just picked my ride up a couple of days ago. ... it is an 05 with 18k on it ... it had been stored for a while and needed extensive fuel system work ... runs great now ... have been on 2 wheels of various types for over 70 years ... thought it was about time to sit back, relax and let honda do the shifting for me ... easy on the knees to step thru instead of swinging a leg over ... i do have a,question ....

i could use a couple more inches of leg room (bad knees) and i have adjusted the riders back rest as far back as it goes and still could use a little more ... does anyone know how to remove it completely? ... i took the screws out but it still seemed reluctant to come apart ... i didn't want to break anything ... thanks in advance for your help ...
oh, by the way, i hang my hat in northern vermont ...

later .... piper

Welcome to the forum Piper.

Just give the butt rest a good yank once you've removed those hex screws from the underside of the seat pan, it'll come off?

welcome piper welcome to the best Silverwing forum on the web. The butt stop will slide out like Tim says. You may get more legroom by modify your butt stop into a backrest. Here's a link that will show you how to do it yourself. Custom brackets for driver's DIY backrest.
If you like DIY mods and plan on doing your own maintenance you'll find you can do anything you need or want with the service manual and help from this forum.
I add the paragraph below for most new members because there's a lot of information in the links and may save you some work.
Here are some links(3 below in blue)that will help you learn a lot about your Silverwing. If you can't find what you need in the links below the search on this forum works good, and if you still need help just ask and someone will do what they can to answer your questions.

Welcome Piper and welcome to the Old Farts Scooter Club. Sorry youngins but Old Farts Rule. We got more money, intelligence and have that Sean Connery cool factor going for us. You'll grow up some day and see the light too.
