Spark Plugs

There was a sale on Iridium plugs at a supplier They tried to cross reference with the Swing standard Bosh plug and did not have a match.Can anyone help me on the right plugs to get. Thanks.

CR8EHIX-9 are the correct ones. I dropped them in last year and picked them up from Advanced Auto Parts for $11.95 for the pair. Best of Luck.

No, Sorry about that i should have mentioned that. They are NGK.

US Models come with NGK or maybe nissan denso. Look in riders manual for recommend plug and heat range.

I find the cheapest plain NGK plugs work just fine----near as I can figure the expensive plugs can make no difference in performance. I get at least 30,000 miles from the cheap plugs.

Important is use a little never seize on the threads---bike shops often run them in dry.

I can only agree: just stick to the recommended plugs

I guest your both right At 31k kl the plugs look real good so far.I will buy the recommended Honda plugs and will change them at my next oil change and belt and rollers ,filter inspection. Time to replace everything soon to be on the safe side.

I always changed plugs at 8,000ml interval, until someone on this site suggested Iridium plugs should last 50,000mls. At 8000mls i put Iridium plugs in (they were the same price as standard plugs). At 16,000mls i took the plugs out to clean and check and they didn't need cleaning and the gap was spot on. At 24,000mls i again took them out to check them, and again they needed no attention. In my opinion they are well worth putting in, depending on the price you can get them for. They are NGK's

Plugs may keep firing but lose their effectiveness, so not all fuel is burnt in combustion. Get iridium plugs.

Just checked prices, NGK Standard plug £11.94, Iridium plug =£13.93. So it is a no brainer.

NGK plug, reg or Resistor @$2.60 they show iridium plugs from $10-18.

I am sure bike shops charge more.

I also had good luck getting NGK plugs at reg auto parts stores in WI and prices were fair. I started using NGK plugs in '62 when I first went to Japan. Their heat range numbers are easy to understand.

Kind of out there but I have Iridium plugs in my Toyota Tundra with 146'000 miles on them and it runs just as well as it did new, and still gets 20 miles per gallon.

That is the reason they need changing at regular intervals. Iridium plugs are much more resilient.

My 03 Tracker has 128 k kl, the plugs has never been changed .My owner's manual say change at 160 k kl. Hell I cant even see the spark plugs.I hope they don't strip the threads out when it's time to change.

I would say put cheapest NGK plugs in---in the right heat range---most scooter riders think they have had a "big" year when they ride 5-10,000 miles.

It appears to be coldest day of the year in the south----30 mins leave for Key West on scooter===Complete Aerostich jacket (Darien) and pants on, long underwear----this would be warm spring day in N WI---Darien and my water-proof Volverine 11" boots means no stopping to change clothes when I run into the expected rain.

I put 25k kl In the 6 month Max that I can ride. 1.5 months in 5 -8 C whether . This year the way the wether,I might be less . If I win the Lottery,Im moving South to warmer temp.

Modern ignition systems are amazing. When I sold our old Mercury Marquis four years ago it had 180,000 miles on it and still had the original spark plugs. I'm cheap enough to wait until something shows up, like hard starting, a miss under load, uneven idling or a drop in mileage before I change plugs nowadays. In years past we'd pull the plugs, sand blast them, file the electrodes back to shape, and re-gap them. British Lodge plugs in my MGA were even designed to be disassembled to clean and service them. But those requirements are long gone along with breaker point ignition. My '93 Goldwing had 175,000 miles on it when I sold it and was on it's second set of plugs. I had no real reason to change them but felt mildly guilty when I did it's 100,000 mile service so I put in another set of plain old NGKs. Removal of lead from gasoline also went a long way to increased plug life.
