This is most discouraging. In the past two years and 20.000 miles, while using the Pareli Diablo and Ride-On, I have had one, almost blowout and two small leaks. Now waiting for my 4th tire.
Each one causing me no pain except in the wallet and frustration.
What if I had been ridding some where in the middle of nowhere and alone?
Will some one please tell me the reason the rear tire is luckily tire to have the problem and not the front. affraid

Maybe more weight on the rear. I have been riding on Diablos, i am not impressed with them at all. I will be going back to Bridgestone Hoops. I've tried Metzelers as well, and i think Mr Honda probably got it right with the Bridgestones. Smile

The most obvious reason the rear suffers more is surely the larger footprint!!! Greater surface area the ratio of a puncture must increase!!!

Other than that, ride with PunctureSafe or other States side equivalent of puncture preventative. Smile

I am so embarrassed. I found a small leak in the valve stem. I guess I will be keeping the new Diablo for a spar. Good thing the weather is getting a little better, at least around here. chickendance

Ride On works well for me. Will seal small leaks (tack) but its main feature for me......BALANACE.

Are you doing own tire work?and making sure rim/bead surface clean, valve stem replaced at least every other tire change? What are you running over to cause flats? Checking tire pressure COLD at least once a week. Bike overloaded?

Diablo is good tire---handles well on some scooters, same company as Metzeler.

No John. I wish I could do the tire changes but that is not possible.
I do check the tire pressure every other week and never overload the bike.
I was hopping that where I take my tire, to be installed that the valve stem seal were replaced automatically but probably not.
I an just happy that I found the problem before going through the hastle.

This is not a scientific analysis, just from what I've read. The front tire runs over the nail and flips it up. Before the nail gets a chance to fall down flat again, the rear tire runs over it. Maybe that's true, maybe not...

When I first got my Burgman 400, I was following the advice I'd read to ride in the center of the road. There were a lot of good reasons for it, and the only caution was to watch out when you came to stop signs and lights because of the amount of oil that would accumulate there. Otherwise, the oil wouldn't be that much on the open road.

That first year, I had four punctures in the rear tire. Sad The Slime I used, repaired the punctures well enough that I could use the tire till it wore out.

The following years, I changed where I rode. I moved over to the tire tracks, trying to position myself to "protect" my space and be as visible as I could be to the potential hazards from other drivers. What I didn't realize was how much that would help on eliminating flats.

Cage drivers are really nice to us on two wheels. Smile They willingly pick up nails, screws, cotter pins, and other metal debris with their tires - just so we won't. If you ride in one of the two tire track areas, chances are you will be riding in a clean area and won't get nearly the flats.

Hey Chris, I also think cagers are good to us. The tire tracks are usually the best place to ride. On some roads that have the tracks a bit grooved from use I find the scoot almost steers itself too. At dusk or at night I try to stay behind a car or truck so they can find the deer for me.
