PostSubject: Natchez Trace   Natchez Trace I_icon_minitimeWed Aug 22, 2012 9:29 am

Returned yesterday from a 3 day trip up the trace. 1024 miles. Left here early Sunday in a "frog strangler" rain that the bike handled without any problems. Weather cleared and actually turned cool, Monday morning, 58F north of Tupelo, Miss.

This bike is definitely a keeper! Avg. for the trip was 58mpg, with a range from 55 to 63mpg. Needless to say, I pretty much ride like the old grandpa that I am, but we did enjoy a few twisty roads in Tenn. I highly recommend local Rte. 99 from Hohenwald to Waynesboro.

I do now understand why many replace the wind screen. OEM was fine at 50-55 mph on the Trace, but at higher speeds my neck was a bit sore. I will soon make the change to the Givi AF214.

One of the places to ride on my bucket list is the Natchez Trace Parkway. That is such a beautiful drive. Is it still 50MPH the entire way?

Yes, still 50mph speed limit. 500 miles from Natchez to Nashville. Numerous stopping points, historical locations. We were fortunate to have unseasonably mild weather for this time of year. I would recommend a fall trip, late October. Cool and colorful.

Dang it, I'll never get my bucket emptied if y'all keep throwing stuff in. Sounds like a great ride. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome!
Hope you get to ride it some time, it is a leisurely nice ride. As someone mentioned elsewhere, keep a look out for all the "critters" on the road. We saw several deer, turkeys, buzzards and dogs on or near the roadway.

Great ride, but a little boring. If you go in the summer, be ready for the heat when you get into Mississippi. We rode into Natchez in mid summer and it was so hot, we turned and rode north instead of enjoying Natchez.
