PostSubject: Clock resets   Wed Feb 08, 2012 12:16 am

Every time I start my 2002 SWing I just bought the clock resets to 1:00.... Any suggestions?

I had the same problem. The former owner had wired a switch to kill the power on the trunk light fuse. The same fuse that powers that light, also powers the clock and the trip odometers when the ignition switch is off.

Stand on the left side, open the trunk and find the 10 amp fuse in the fuse holder on the right marked "Clock". Replace it if it is blown. If not, does it have about 12 volts on either side of the fuse? If not, release the fuse holder with a small screw driver, pull up the block and trace the power wire on the bottom of the fuse and see where you are losing power. You might find an add on switch like I did.

Thanks Larry. I did see a switch outside on the left side ...below where the battery is inside the trunk., but I think it was for powering the 2 "Running Tube Lights" on the trike kit. I haven't investigated that yet. One question comes to my mind ...If that same wire powers both the clock & the trip oddometers on your SWing did the oddometers reset also when the clock reset? On mine only the clock resets.

Yes, the trip odometers would reset as would the clock. I removed the trunk bulb, got rid of the switch and now they work fine. You may have a different problem.

I would look for any obvious modifications to the wiring first, then take the wiring diagram and trace the power to the clock (with the ignition switch off) and see where you are losing it.

If the trip odometers are working, you make have a bad clock.

Good luck
