There is nothing like a 100 mph. ride to make Harley riders take notice.
Yesterday was a glorious day in Santa Barbara Ca. I rode with 6 harleys some costing $30,000 in a club called Santa Barbara Riders.
When we all meet at a gas station every one was checking out each others ride and one guy comes over and sais " what is that"
Referring to my pride and joy. I gave him a short low down and a few min later we were off to have breakfast in a town called Ojai
What started off to be 60 degrees at 8:00am with fog, soon turned to 95 plus an hr. later at 3000 ft.
Breakfast was good but I could not help feel a little out of place not knowing anyone and feeling that they thought the little scooter was going to be a drag on there ride.
The new Hyperpro springs really stuck like gum in the turns and got a work out in the mountains and in the straights.

I gave every one a run for there money. After about 3 hr. of fantastic views in the back country doing 100 mph, plus, we stopped and took a short break. (ok, one of the riders did pass me going while doing a 100 but I am half there size)

Now! all of a sudden they wanted to know a lot more about this little scooter.
We rode a hard for 350 miles and I came home with a good feeling about the whole day, knowing that I meet a great bunch of riders and that my Silverwing made a true statement.

Yes, those higher speeds do seem to get the attention of the HD (and GoldWing, and Yamaha, and etc.) riders when a group gets together. Two areas that demonstrate that fact (that I'm familiar with) are in Patriot Guard / American Legion Riders gatherings. There's always one or two in the groups that want to know, "what size engine is that?". And then the comment, "Boy, it really moves out, doesn't it?". They're always impressed by how fast it goes and how fast it can get there.

Personally, I've not been to that 100mph plateau; 95 is as close as I've been. And that was on a "deserted" county backroad. Still, each to his own. It's just nice knowing we have the power to "do it" if we so choose.

I once hit 100 mph on the freeway, as soon as I got to 100 mph she started to wobble really bad, I thought for sure I was going to crash, but was able to slow down and get her under control. Never again. Ride Safe.

I hit 104mph (or so said the GPS) during a lap on the Pocono Raceway when they opened it up for those of us who were on the Rock n Roll Ride for Autism. This was on the straightaway and took almost 1.5 miles or so to accelerate to that, and then the Harleys got in my way and I had to slow down.

That being said, I try my best to stay no more than 5-10mph over the speed limit on regular roads. The thrill is there but I don't wanna die!

Ride the envelope.

If it does 100+ then it just begs to be done.

Illegal - yes! But if safe then what the heck.

I just love 3 figure speeds, it's only a shame there are few places that it can be achieved - legally!!!!

It's never safe unless done on a closed course. Even then, with some Swings having a propensity to head shake at ton up speeds, it's still not the smartest thing to try.

I'm quite intrigued that the Silver Wing can do 100mph for 3 hours without running out of fuel, and the rider can admire the fantastic views while keeping a safe distance from the rider in front, and checking his mirrors for the rider behind.

I've found that you can't predict when a raccoon will decide to cross the road, or a deer. Either make a bad speed bump when going that fast. Safe? Only because nothing bad happened.

I wonder what the people that were passed, thought of motorcycle riders... I don't mind finding out what the top speed is of any bike...on the track.

You must have never been to west Texas ... one long closed course

The speed limit was 80 MPH, I ran it up to 90 mph which was very smooth ... just so I know how it would handle.

I believe the speed limit has now been raise to 85 MPH.

I wonder if the Swing could even get 30mpg if I went at 90mph in TX sustained...

I am sorry you misunderstood. I never said I dorve 100mph for three hr. It was only 2 or 3 min.
Just one of those things on the back roads I had to try.
