| Just purchased a clean 2004 with less than 8000 miles. The local Honda shop gave it a clean bill of health and I'm delighted with it's firm handling and quick responsiveness. I've ridden a Vespa since 1969 and still have a trusty '04, but this Silver Wing is sooo much more than I hoped for. Glad to find this forum and look forward to learning much from following other experienced riders. Tally Ho!

| I too am in Scottsdale Arizona. I work off Raintree and the 101 but live in Fountain Hills and I have a 2004 Silverwing as well. I just did my first oil change after riding for a couple thousand miles and I used Mobil 1 0w40 while adding about half 91 octane to my last tank and I could truly feel the silverwing pick up power at every RPM. I feel a transition while riding between 55mph and 65mph. The sound of the bike seems to transform to a smooth and interesting sound similar to Honda DOHC VTEC motors but not as dramatic.
GOAZ.COM just opened up here in North Scottsdale and I noticed they have some clearance items of which they have about 20 or more Leo Vince 4 road exhausts for Piaggio MP3 400, Vespa and some other scoots for $200 marked down. I am begging them to find a power commander, leo vince and anything else for clearance to give me a call immediately. I always modify everything I drive so this scooter will be no different.
Sorry to hijack this thread. Welcome and good to see someone nearby who I might be able to meet in person and ride with one day. My lady and I love riding two up on long journeys.

| I've learned a lot over the last 2 months or so that I have had my Silverwing. I cannot wait to get the variator, power commander, clutch, exhaust and modified intake with velocity stack so that I can enjoy my rides even more. The truth is, this scooter is plenty fast. I was horsing around with a young guy on his CBRR 1000 last night on the twisties and while I would let him pull away around those tight turns he'd allow me to sprint back close to him when we hit the staights and he was truly impressed by the scooter's ability to hang around and pick up speed from 35mph to 80mph.
Don't get my wrong. I enjoy babying my bike to get great fuel economy as well. With my woman on back running 87 octane we have managed to keep between 50 to 53mpg.
When I ride alone my fuel economy seems to suffer and I average 43mpg. My scoot has 24,000 miles and is still mechanically running perfectly. I hope to put over 100,000 miles on her.

| Riding out here around the lakes and in the mountains is quite nice. My lady and I plan to get a givi luggage box and doing quite a bit of traveling later this year. I will get a map and start filling it out on my profile too. I have family in Florida and Ohio to visit so I could cover a lot of ground in 2 weeks, weather permitting!
Thanks for the welcome everyone. I have been learning an awful lot. If I could just fix my front fork from being so bouncy and unpredictable at lower speeds it would make me very happy. I'd prefer to switch to the Honda Shadow's front fork and I thought I had read somewhere that this had been done.

It was! I had ridden through Toronto and came back into the US in Detroit. Except for the deplorable condition of the interstate highways there at the time, the ride was good, especially through the UP. Very scenic! |
