PostSubject: About to be a Silverwing owner   Sat Apr 16, 2011 12:40 pm

Hi all,

My name is Oli and I have owned a Honda Pantheon 150 for the last 4 years...it's an italian import as they only made the Pantheon in a 125 here in the UK.

I have previously owned a couple of other scooters such as a Peugeot Speedake 50

and

Honda Shadow SRX 50

I live in London and have put down a deposit on a Silverwing from 2001 with 1,100 miles on the clock. It's practically brand new and in great condition.

I pick her up later this week but just wanted to introduce myself...i'm sure i'll be here a whole lot more going forward.

Thanks,

Oli

Hello Oli and welcome from me, too.
You've just joined the best Silverwing forum on the Net!

I have a group of maxi-rider friends who meet at the Ace Cafe every Saturday for breakfast and quite often ride together - all maxis welcome.

Oli, I doubt if I'll be there - I'm living in Belgium now - but several chaps meet there still; Barry has both white and grey 650 Burgers, Colin a white 650, Martyn another 650. There are usually a few others, too.
They meet between 9.30 and 10.00 and stay for a couple of hours.

If you decide to go, let me know and I'll prime them to keep an eye open for you. I know they'll be pleased to see you.

They won't be there on Easter Sunday as there's a rideout in Kent.
If you want details, again let me know. It's an all-commers event.

Thanks again for all the info an intros chaps! I'll definitely keep an eye open for the Ace Cafe in the coming weeks and will let you know when i plan to attend Mike.

So, it's about time i introduce to you my SWing which i collected this morning...tadaa...

I think it's a bog standard edition but feel free to let me know of any unusual features if any.

As you can see it's in 1st class condition despite 10 years old. The mileage is 1,122 and the story is that the first owner lost it to a friend in a poker matched. The guy that won it put it in his garage for 5 years before also losing it in a poker match to guy nr 3 who put it up for sale as he didn't have a motorcycle license. It's had 2 official owners but it's been a real steal...£2.6k so i'm very pleased.

Glad I can now call myself an official SWing owner! cheers

Oli

Oli,
Looking at your pictures tells me you got it from some sort of dealer.
Please ring up the dealer or if it is not a Honda dealer, ring up the nearest Honda dealer and give your serial number, and let them check to see if your bike has any recall or update campaigns on it.

2001 was the first year the Silverwing came out.
Interesting to note that from the picture of the ignition switch,
this bike doesn't have the HISS antitheft system.
Good luck and welcome.

Dan

Very nice, indeed. It looks brand new, and the silver is beautiful!

Now, a question for the regulars; are those some sort of factory mirror extensions for Europe/UK, or perhaps just a nice set of aftermarkets? Mine (US '03) didn't look like that, but I've added extensions now. They don't look that nice, though.

I have those mirror extenders - they are the stock Honda ones.

Hi Dan,

I'll follow up on your advice and see what they say!

The speedo does have a button for the HISS so i assume it's on the bike confused

Oli, the HISS is easy to check out.

Ignition on.

Ensure the Odometer is set to total mileage.

Press and hold the Reset button, (The right one). For two seconds.

The HISS light will flash once to show it is activated.

It should then flash every few seconds for the first 24 hours then stop. (Battery conservation I suspect).

My mistake. I thought their was some sort of additional key setup next to the ignition key for HISS

Each year model is different. If the 2001 had no campaigns that is great.
