| As the forecast in the North of England for the day was good, 3 Friends and myself ventured out for a ride. We tried hard to avoid the main roads which was good but encountered many potholes on the minor roads. Our route took us to Hawes in the North, which is a well known bikers stop, where i visited the local cheese maker to make a purchase (www.wensleydale.co.uk) then had a bite to eat and headed off on the return journey via Dent (http://www.dentstation.co.uk/), still keeping to the back roads (some of the gated). All in all a round trip of about 120 miles and as we were not rushing anywhere, took us around 6 hours. Coffee and comfort break A rose amongst thorns One of the gang took a fancy to the slide on the playground next to the cafe. A quick photo opportunity Hawes Proof I bought the cheese at source and not from a local supermarket |

| Lovely! My godmother (and her sisters) owned a cottage in Gayle where I spent a great holiday years ago. Ribblehead Viaduct was the highlight for me although the whole trip was memorable for all the right reasons. _________________ Mike - Riding on the right - riding for pleasure!

Hi Mike
We went through Gayle en-route but avoided Ribblehead as the main road is use by the sports bike owners when the want play, we went slightly to the West.... |

| Hello Paul, Thinking back it must have been the late 70s when I went so the power-rangers weren't yet born! I've always meant to go again - you've whetted my appetite! _________________ Mike - Riding on the right - riding for pleasure!

| Hi Paul, I was last in Hawes at a rally back in the 80's and I remember a traditional rope maker in the village, as well as the Wensleydale creamery. I've camped a few times in Dent too usually freezing in early January, until I got savvy and started booking a room at the Sun Inn. Those back roads can be quite daunting riding on your own, I had to dismount to open a gate on a really steep section when I was riding a CN250 Honda Helix. Me bum was puckering a bit as I half expected to hear it crashing over off the stand as I hurried to open and then close the gate.
You beat me by two months getting your Airflow screen on, and I can see from your photo you have it a lot lower. Hope you enjoyed the Wensleydale, as Wallace would say "Crackin' cheese Gromit!" |

I was lucky, I didn't have to dismount at all as the others tended the gates But I know what you mean, very undulating to say the least. In one village we had to do a hairpin on cobbles, I was ready to "dab"
The screen is lower for the lower speeds we were travelling but lift it up when going warp speed
They have done some alterations to the factory so the cheese has a place of its own to be displayed, I tell you what there was some Chilli cheese that was great but didn't buy any this time. Will have to make an excuse to go back |

| Thanks so much for sharing your Sunday ride & the nice photos with us.
Do those two-stroke scooter boys not ride with you all, or is that bunch a horse of a different color?

Tim
Apart from my lad who has an Enduro/MX bike, I don't know anyone with 2 stroke. The Lambretta/Vespa girls and boys tend to keep to themselves |
