Was anyone here so fortunate as to benefit from John Grinsel's Silverwing parts giveaways?

Anything worthwhile?

Trailer for sale or rent,
Rooms to let, 50 cents,
I'm a man of means,
But by no means, King of the Road!

I got a Givi Air Flow and some free things cheers from him, even before I sent him any money. So he is honest and trusting to deal with.

I have every reason to suspect he's generous and trusting. He pretty much bared his soul on here. I wish him well on his new ride.
Funny guy, and I do miss his rants and Luddite views.

Here is the deal---Sold one windshield-----still have a Clearview with GoldWing vent, backrest conversion, Laminar Ears for stock shield to give away to somebody who picks up on bike. Would like $25 for Service Manual that can be mailed.

Went to Daytona----maybe 90 % were trailer bikers! Had lunch with High School friend rode home thru some of the worst weather ever.

New bike fine--NT700V non ABS----about same gas mileage as SilverWing, more engine noise, crappy foot rests and handgrips, high end performance maybe better----will ride a year and trade. E46 box works fine but after 500,000 miles, it is looking a little tired. Best feature of new bike compared to SilverWing----NO OR LESS BUFFETING!!! and no rubber band to change. Weight about same=too heavy.

This maybe fairly high mileage year as I am going back to work at Ft Campbell and round trip is 400 miles in round numbers. Will do it in a couple of times a week.

Trip to Daytona=lots of dirty southern bathrooms and low standards in fast food, even motel with no plug for bath-tub.

My long term escape plan is to turn new job into 3 yr gig in Germany or Japan----lots of good riding.

As most of my riding gear gets trashed after 3-4 yrs have ordered, new Aerostich boots (2nd pair), Stone Lake leather bib overalls (roasted nuts in south in summer)---still working on jacket...already have yellow mesh have had yellow Darien in past plus Aerostich one piece suit (4 or so since 80's)----they are best for point to point riding, not much fun to walk around in-----and greatest for old men, easy to pee from when all suited up.

AND good for stroke to ride regular bike again----left leg and hand, all movements needed to be thought out at first, ok now.

I hope the 250cc plus scooter market has come new developments when I am ready to buy again next year....I like the dry feet thing.

If you're in Germany or Japan you'll have the Silverwing 400 available.

Hey John. I hang out here as well. I see you have joined the NT700 forum after your bike change. Welcome!
I have a Silverwing also (wife's). What size is the Clearview?

Clear view has been cut so I can see over----probably measures 21" from steeringl crown over on Silverwing 21" from key (ignition lock to top of shield)---came with GoldWing vent installed----also tried it with Laminar lip. Didn't do trick for me, funny because Clearview with vent was only windshield that made my Concours rideable, 56,000 miles as my spare bike. Clearview on SilverWing does provide very good hand coverage.
