| I thought i posted a message on the general site for info, or , advice on tyres but i cannot find it anywhere. Iam asking if anyone in UK has any advice regarding replacement tyres on my 07 swing. The present set of Bridgestones have done 6500. The rear needs replacing. Is this expected? or good.? I ask because i expect better mileage out of a set of tyres. When i rode my Deauville the recommended tyres where Michelin Pilots after the 90's and 100's where updated, i never got better than 4000mls out of them, after trial and error i found Avon Storms gave me 11000mls per set. anyone got any suggestions or experiance of alternative tyres. I ride all year round so i need a good all round tyre |

| I'd have a look at the new Wintec tyre that Black Fly mentioned - I did put a post up a couple of weeks ago about them. They are designed to be a year round tyre, which is nice. |

| Old Limey
Just replaced tyres again on 2009 model 8000 miles all weather.
Front 8000 miles and rears 4000 - Bridgestone Hoops
I tend to use performance of Silverwing, hence mileage from tyres
Cheapest and quickest delivery by www.blackcircles.com - cracking service and prices
I also have 2008 Deauville and also fitted with Hoops - only 3400 miles in three years so no tyre replacement yet
Hope this helps
Bill

| bill3862. I had 2 deauvilles. Are you sure your tyres are hoops . Honda were fitting Bridgstones but they were b20's. I thought hoops were only for scooters. I have now put on a hoop on the rear but, ithink i will try the Diabalos from Pirelli on the front which is due for changing soon |

Bill, I can endorse the delivery regards Black Circles .co.uk! They had two Hoops delivered for my Burger in under 24 hours. I was so impressed. Keeps the bike on the roads where it should be. |

| I had my rear tyre replaced a couple of days ago at 6200 miles on the clock.
The tread was almost down to the limit marker and although I may have managed another 500 miles or so I decided to change it in readiness for our M/C new club season - First short (120 miles or so) ride out is tomorrow.
I replaced the old Bridgestone Hoop 150 / 70 / 13 with a new Hoop.
The front tyre I reckon has another 2000 miles or so tread left on it. |

| On this subject, I am looking at some replacement rubber for the Swing, but I am not actually sure just how much work the tyres on it (Hoops) have done! Strange question then... Anyone with new Bridgestone rubber please, who can tell me what depth of tread they come with when new?? Either in the groove, or on the wear line. It may well be that the tyres will do a big trip, but I really am not sure |

| Steve R. Most new tyres have 8mm of tread.Minimum legal tread in UK Front 1.5 Rear 2.0 so i believe. |

Tons of wear left, but not sure if there is 3k miles left, Waspie!
It is a right pain to start and sort punctures or new rubber when on holiday, you can soon lose half a day messing around i found the once after getting a blow out in Germany! |

| I stand corrected Waspie. I must have been thinking of the tread i consider safe SteveR. I would suggest that if your tyres have more tread at the edge, the last owner didn't like banking over for the bends |

All I quoted was the UK legal limit as laid down. Personal limits are another thing. I like loads of tread as the UK is a tad damp most of the year. (Not withstanding the current trend). Lets be honest, most races are rode on slicks!!! Would you trust your machine on slicks in a deluge? I think not.
Ref, wear across the tyre, after 6 to 7k, my Bridgestones are pretty worn in the centre, whilst there is a little more on the outside. It must be a known phenomena as I was reading some of the tyre threads on here and one company actually produce a duel compound tyre for this very reason.
Choices - choices. Ride hard, ride soft, Oh me Oh my.
Sod it - just RIDE!!
Ah well, all adds to the debate. |
