PostSubject: Hi from cold AZ   Sun Jan 02, 2011 4:45 am

Just picked up a swing a couple days ago, was in a local shop to pick up a used burg exec but it was gone. Guy traded in a 2003 swing so I drove it home instead. 20k on it but very clean bike, new tires. Guess I need to check the belt now. Wish it was warmer so I could drive it to work but its been in the teens and there is this white stuff falling from the sky.... Think its called snow. Guess I have to wait a bit longer.
Anyhow, howdy all.

Hi Shorin, welcome to the Forum Smile

If you got the bike from a Dealers then it should be okay??? The belts need to be checked/changed at 16000 miles so you should have a reasonably new one???

If the bike feels right, then it probaby is??? Have you got any upgrades/modifications - bigger screen, power socket, back rest, top box, beer chiller etc.??? Need help or advice - this is the place to be.... Smile

thanks for the welcome all. not sure what services have been done on the scooter. i will leave my number with the shop to contact the guy, perhaps he will give a fellow rider some info on his old bike. it looks stock to me down to the air valve caps. not sure what mods i can/should do. i wish it had a bigger gas tank, but it is what it is. i will be reading up thru the old posts for ideas.

sunny sunny Welcome from sunny Texas. I get a comfortable 120-150 miles per tankful. I got over 160 last summer, but i knew where the next gas station was and was happy when it came into view. Hammy has a lot of ideas about increasing range. You can browse previous posts while waiting for the white stuff to go away. Again, welcome to the forum and enjoy the ride. small moped small moped

I'm south of Tucson, Cochise county. Live out in the sticks, Tombstone area (yeah like the movie). Always wanted to see Prescott area. Maybe this summer I will start some touring, once the snow birds leave and the roads are safer, lol. If you are a snowbird, dont take offense unless you are one of the guys pulling a huge trailer with your diesel truck weaving both lanes doing 45 in a 75 zone. Razz

I lived in Tucson for 20 years and loved it, i retired and moved to Prescott about 7 years ago. I'm sure you would love riding the roads up here in the high country. One of the many great rides is 89A starting in Prescott going thru sedona and up thru oak creek canyon ending at flagstaff. It has been in many magazines, including Honda's red rider as on of the most beautiful rides in the USA.

There is a scooter club in Tucson that you might want to get on their site and go on some rides with them. I met a few of them and its a good group.
here is their site.

Shorin,
Welcome to the site. Congrats on your new ride!

Robert,
I also bought mine at Coyote Honda in July. Mine was the '09, and I saw your '08 right next to it. I wanted the ABS, so bought the '09.

Paul_Scooter,
I ride a lot of the high country up near you quite frequently during the summer when it is a bit hot here in the valley. I agree... there are some very good roads up that way.

We all need to meet for lunch sometime after the weather warms up a bit.

second tank of gas, up to 48mph from 40. took it easy on the throttle this time. still a bit cold out. already ordered a new shield for my swing.

am looking forward to a ride up north, my bud rides a valkarie and does the marana run. says its nothing but shifting gears the whole way with twisties galore. told him i dont have to worry about shifting, lol.

once the weather warms up, am headed out for longer joy rides instead of just work rides. If you all want to make a run to tombstone, i have a friend that owns a bar down there and would probably reserve parking space for all of us so we dont have to pay.
