Just returned from an 1800 mi loop from Muskogee OK, east across Arkansas, through Mississippi to Winona. South to Slidell, LA then west to Beaumont, TX and back north through east Texas to Muskogee. This was my "shakedown cruise" for a newly aquired 02 SW. It performed flawlessly. Got 48 mpg when doing 60 to 65 mph and the worst mileage I got was 44 when flogging it at 80 mph for sustained Interstate travel. I'm light and didn't pack much for the trip. These SW's are the best kept secret in motorcycling. I've had lots of bikes, large and small and except for suspension issues (stiff ride) it's as comfortable as anything I've ever ridden. Glad to be a part of the SW group.

Excellent - Nice to see some have time to get out and ride. Ugly weather here in North AL today. Hoping for some warm weather for the weekend. Really have a need to get out and ride now that wife's foot is healed.

See any nice scenery while out and about?

Great colors in eastern OK and western AR. Wanted to get all the way to the gulf around Cameron LA but couldn't due to darkness. Spent too much time with friends who own a restraunt in Slidell.

Don't tell John Grinsel!!!! Laughing

Seriously, sounds like a great ride, glad the Wing performed well. Encouraging for those wishing to plan a long ride.

I would be curious what routes you took.

Are you located in CA (per your profile) or OK?

Sorry for the profile mistake. I fixed it. I live in Muskogee, OK. I'll just give you the numbers Bill and you can map it out. Muskogee s on OK64, OK2, OK9, OK82, OK270, AR270 to Pine Bluff. AR 65/165 to Lake Village, AR. AR82 to Winona, MS. I55 south to Jackson, AR49 to Hattiesburg. I59 south to Slidell, LA. I12 to Baton Rouge, I10 to Lafeyette. LA167, LA82 to TX. (lots of choices as to getting to Vidor or Beaumont) From Vodor I took TX105 to TX96, TX59, TX82, TX/OK259, OK63, OK82, OK31, OK2, OK64
Lots of interesting stuff to see but be careful when riding in south LA along the swamps. The logs in the roads are not logs. They are gators. Sometimes roadkill, sometimes alive. Wouldn't ride along that coast route at night.

Martywinger: Sounds like a great ride and you enjoyed yourself. We did a small ride Saturday on the Northern Neck of VA. Colors were spectactular. A bit nippy but we wore snowmobile suits and were just fine. Glad you are enjoying the Swing!
Pat and I lived in Haskell, Oklahoma back in 1970 which I'm sure you know where that is at. We were riding a Yamaha YR1 350 that year. Grew up mostly around the Tulsa area with middle school and up to the 11th grade North of Tulsa in Oologah. Graduated over in Claremore in 63, joined the Army and except for 1970 have lived mostly on the east coast. I miss OK a lot but am pretty well satisfied anywhere I live. Enjoyed riding around the lakes, Keystone, Oologah, Grand Lake, Tenkiller and others. Take care...Dick
