I was just in the "other" (Brit) Swing forum. The only activity there in the past week or so has been a rather testy discourse between the owner/admin of the forum and the general user population about the use/lack of use of helmets.

ATGATT? Not according to the owner/admin. alien beamed up

The other board is kind of like a zombie.
Not quite dead, but if you hang around it long enough,
the mindlessness of the topics will eat your brain.

If you want to see a dead board, try the yahoo silverwing group.

Yeah... I was involved in that little written intercourse about helmets. I almost hate to give my own opinion anymore since all it seems to do is irritate those that disagree. So I put in my final remarks, ran like hell, and departed to this site where folks ain't so grouchy !! HI ALL ! ! Laughing Smile Rolling Eyes clown

Without wishing to start/continue the 'discussion' here, it's rarely mentioned that wearing all the gear or not has a marked effect on the aftermath of any accident.

I'm sure Laurie won't mind me saying that after her major 'off' last month, one result of her being properly kitted-out was that she was out of hospital and back home that very day.

No-one seems to consider the people who have to scrape up the bodies of riders who expose themselves to greater danger, etc., etc.

As someone said recently; when one is getting older, one doesn't heal so quickly. That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it! Smile

I think "the other site" is just dead and don't know it. I'm finished with it.
Actually no useful information on that site since he banned all the main contributors. His loss.

The owner is a programmer for a company that uses the website to promote open source technology in the form of the board software.

Content is not his priority.
Maintaining control of costs associated with running the board is.
As such, as long as the board is active, and has a rich archive,
(an archive provided largely by people like Myself, DennisB and JeffR)
it serves his purpose.
