Morning all, I'm not sure if this has been posted/asked before. So here goes, how long do you warm up the scoot? I have been letting her run till the second bar shows on the water temp. But I am thinking that might be a bit too long.

Typically I only warm up the Silverwing for 15-30 seconds. During the very cold weather I will wait for 30-45 seconds, but I will slow the acceleration till I have 2-3 bars._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

I don't really wait unless I'm waiting for Kim to get her bike started. Generally like our cars, I start and go.

I'm a start and go rider. The engine can warm up whilst I'm in transit.

I warm it up for as long as it takes to pull my gloves on and get it off the center stand. I live in a community with 15mph speed limits, so by the time I get to the highway, the second bar is usually on. At that point, I just ride as normal.

I warm up for at least a minute on the first start of the day. Our engines jump to 4k-5k rpm so easily on accelerating that I like to have the engine somewhat warm before doing that. Then I wait for the 3rd temp bar before doing any serious acceleration or high speed.

I treat my SW and GW the same as my car and truck. Fire it up and go. That's one of the great things about EFI it doesn't require any engine warm up to eliminate hesitation and stumbling. If it was very cold I'd let it run until the rpms drop from fast idle but that would be in a lot colder weather than I'd ride a bike in anyway.

I vote with the "start her up and move out" method.

With EFI they're not "cold blooded" and not wanting to be driveable 'til warmed up. So, I guess I'm the start and go type. That being said, my daily commute is only 2 miles one way and I would be better off getting it hot enough to dry out the muffler of condensation and get the oil hot. I need to take the time to warm it up or, I fear I will pay in the longer term.
