PostSubject: Napa to Sonoma a short ride   Mon May 03, 2010 10:04 am

I took a late afternoon ride to Napa Valley and Sonoma yesterday. The sun was still high and I knew I had at least a few good hours left to ride. At first I wanted to go to Geysers rd by Alexander Valley because of the clear sky and you can see for miles from up there. My last ride to that area was overcast w/limited view. I made a stop in Yountville to take a quick pics of The French Laundry, this restaurant has won virtually every culinary award imaginable, including Best Restaurant in the World ( 2003 & 2004 ).
Back on Hwy 29 I turned off on Oakville Grade rd which turned into Trinity rd and just a few short miles it was going to intersect w/Cavedale rd. I rode this road a few years ago and so I wanted to revisit it.
Not much change since except the road was dryer and the weather is warmer. The road opens up w/an awesome view of the hill side vineyards and valley below about midway through the ride that made this short trip worth it. I can't say too much about the road condition it ranks up there w/Mattole rd (the Lost Coast) one of the worst roads I rode on, but still a nice destination, I'm glad it was only 7 to 8 miles long Smile
