PostSubject: How do you lube a throttle cable   Thu Apr 01, 2010 4:52 pm

I just took out my new-used 06 Swing & overall it's great but the throttle kind of stays open. It's like a cruise control, I kinda like it but I guess it needs to fixed. How do you lube a throttle cable? How tough is it to replace one. I know squat but the shops around Atl are $70/hr.

Hi,

There are many good motorcycle cable lube attachments on the market.

Just a thought, You might want to check your scooters throttle drum return spring if lubing the cable does not work.

I took the bike to a service place I had called, the guy took one look and said easy fix. The grip had moved snug against the throttle, just had to pull it out. I will say it made for a smoother ride now it feels like a car down shifting from forth to second when I let of the gas , I guess it's safer but seems like a cheap cruise control.

Happy you had a good outcome. The engine braking is really wuite a nice feature one you adapt to it. You really can make it work for you. Remember braking is really just an admission that you have over accelerated.

I also like the whirrrrrring sound it makes when you let off the throttle especially on a long hill!
