PostSubject: socket under seat in side compartment   Mon Jun 25, 2018 4:36 am

Confused of Croydon here....
Happened to open the little access flap on the left side of Swing, under the seat which allows access to the rear indicator bulb, I assume, and found a small white male socket with three wires coming to it. It is fed from the loom. A friend has confirmed that he has the same thing on his, but his has got a red cover on the plug, mine seems to have lost that.
I have tested with a meter and two of the wires produce 12 volts with the ignition on.

Can anyone tell me please what the socket is for? I am thinking I would like to add an accessory socket for phone charging etc, with the socket mounted on the wall facing into the main underseat storage.

Bike is European spec and new to me.

I can't seem to add pictures directly to this thread and site instructions say I can only link to photos stored elsewhere, but I have no idea how to do such things. Shocked

Any help would be appreciated.

The wires are as follows:
Green
Red / blue
Brown / white.

False info from my pal about the red plastic cover over his, that is something else dangling in the same area, probably a diode or something. This is a specific white male flatish socket that is similar to the Goldwing 12 volt socket under the front left glove pocket that is specifically for the plug and play 12 volt socket.

I wish I could show the pictures I have taken of it. This is something that is just straight into the loom, not something that a previous owner has added.

If the color codes are; G, Br, O/W, and Bl/W it is a test plug for the ECM. HTH

I don't know what it's for but wire is a very small size.
Best to add accessory items wired directly to battery with a fuse.

Thanks for that. Sounds right, those could be the colours, it might have been my old eyes and poor light, but anyway, as Mech 1 twa said, they are pretty thin gauge wires, so hardly sufficient for powering a 12 volt accessory socket.
I am probably going to add a small secondary fuse board, wired to the battery, to ensure safe additions of accessories.
