| I am thinking of buying a 2002 Honda Reflex 250cc ABS for my girl friend to ride. This one has 15,000 miles on it with new belt, new tires and new battery.
Before we moved to Yuma, I sold her 2011 Honda PCX 125cc and I am considering this bike.
I know it has the same engine as the Helix and I had one of those once upon a time.
Have you had one of these, or know of folks who have had experience with one of them? Let me know what your opinion is on this bike.

| I had one new, non-abs----nice to ride, mine got run over by lady on cell phone at 22-23,000 miles.totaled, performance better than Helix, but as I remember adjusting valves more complicated than Helix. Drive belt change requires front clutch be removed, again more complicated than Helix.
What you are looking at is 15 year old bike---so the price had better be right. From my experience, no known weak points. Regardless of windshield/spoilers, buffeting still problem on long trips. |

| I had one for a short time, bought it new, and it was a very nice scooter. I really liked it but wished it was a bit more powerful. It just didn't have the power to ride on the Bay Area interstates. Mine topped out at 75 mph but i'm kind of a big guy. You can go 65mph no problem but it just wasn't enough power for the riding I did. But it is very, very smooth and a great bike. If it would have had a 300cc engine I would have kept it. Does your girlfriend expect to do much riding at 65-70 mph? If most of your riding is city or on 55 mph roads it is a great bike IMO. |

| My friend has one, the Yellow Blur he calls it, rides one up and mostly local roads, does a good job and gets great gas mileage. |

She weighs 135 lbs and wants to go scooter riding with me on her own bike. Most of our rides would not be on the freeway. 55 to 65 mph limits would be tops. I am thinking it would be a stepping stone to a Silverwing in a few years. John mentioned it is an old bike. 02 with 15,000 miles for $1200 is the deal we are working with. |

| I still own and ride a 2005 Honda Reflex that I bought new. Mine has been a very reliable scooter that has only required the normal service items. I still enjoy riding it very much and It will happily do the 55 to 65 mph range that you speak of. As with any machine it really depends on how well the previous owner/owners have serviced the scooter. |

| There is one for sale on the local Craigslist, a 2006 with 71k miles--seller claims "Everything works as it should. Starts right up and is ready to go!"
Properly cared for 100k or more is not impossible.
Not the same class, however I had a 1988 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 I purchased new in early 1989--it had 215k on it when I sold it in '99. Had to replace the water pump shaft around 110k...

| Thanks everyone for your comments about the Reflex. I was all ready to buy this bike.
My girl friend has cold feet. All of a sudden, she has decided that she does not want to get motorcycle licensed in Arizona and is comfortable being a co-rider with me as the driver. (As we were for years before I purchased her a 125cc PCX. two years ago.)
I really thought I found the right bike for her as the ABS in 2002 is a rare breed. |

| I have 4 of these bikes; 2001 standard, 2004 Sport, 2006 Sport ABS, and a 2007 Sport. A 15 year old scooter might seem a bit old, and having only 1200 miles is not a problem really if the bike has been maintained at least above marginal. These things are hard to kill. The usual problem for a Reflex that age would probably be rust in the tank from condensation... but that can be fixed. $1200 for a 2002 Reflex in reasonably good running order with only 12K miles AND with ABS!... That is a fairly decent deal. And ABS is great if you can get it. Not many of the older scooters had ABS.
Even though you seem to have passed on this bike, somebody else could still be getting a good deal |

| I dunno. Is circa-2002 ABS as good as the ABS on the SW or a more recent design? |
