It seems I may be guilty of a shameful disregard of protocol by having earlier introduced myself in the What Country/State? Poll in the Introductions section, rather than a specific thread.
In order that decorum may be restored, may I humbly request forbearance of the aforementioned inflecity, and my acceptance into the bosom of your esteemed forum.
Or, to put it another way. . . .
HALLO YOU LOT!
I read this forum extensively before plumping for a Silverwing, and the existence and quality of the forum was a significant factor in my decision.
In the month or two (and a few hundred miles) I've had the scoot the forum's been a great help in resolving a few queries about the bike, and clarifying my thinking about potential mods.
Mine's a blue 2010 'Wing with Honda topbox, more or less standard, c 8,000 miles. I bought a Givi Airflow screen on the strength of the comments on here, and yesterday removed the hopeless standard screen to fit it (with help from the Pictorial guide someone had posted on here). Only then did I find that the new screen had been broken in transit, so the Honda screen went back on. (The Givi suppliers were very good about it, and promised me a replacement before the end of the week.)
I've also bought some Honda leg deflectors - a bit of an indulgence, but I saw some cheap (at least compared to list price) and they may become harder to find in future. I've not yet fitted them, as its still pretty chilly here, and you need heat (applied or ambient) to set the adhesive off.
The only other mod I'm planning as yet is heated grips.
The rest from my original intro post -
1] What State or Country, County do you Ride in. Norfolk, East of England.
2] Are you willing to team up with fellow Swingers for a ride. Yes.
3] What riding clubs do you belong to. None at present.
4] Whats your level of expertise for swing maintenance 1-10 with 10 being expert, 1 being Noob. More zero than one to ten, so far! Hope it stays that way. (I used up all my patience a while back maintaining/endlesly rebuilding my ancient Brit bikes.)
5] List your Rides you have owned. BSA C12 250 (1950s 4-stroke single);
Suzuki A100 (c1970 2-stroke single);
Royal Enfield Crusader 250 (c1960 4-stroke single);
AJS Model 16 350 (1957 4-stroke single);
AJS Model 18 500 (1957 4-stroke single);
Suzuki GT550 (1970s 2-stroke triple);
Suzuki GT380 (1970s 2-stroke triple);
Gilera Arcore 150 (1970s 4-stroke single);
Honda Transalp 650 (2000s 4-stroke V twin);
Honda Varadero 1000 (2000s 4-stroke V twin);
Honda Pan European ST1100 (1990s 4-stroke V4);
Honda Silverwing 600
6] List your Mods or at least your fav mods. The bike I've just bought is standard (plus Honda topbox). Replacement screen and heated grips planned.
7] a short story of you most interesting ride. Maybe later.
8] when you take a ride wheres your fav route and why. Around here I have a few favourite minor roads and country lanes - for the scenery, the bends, and to keep away from heavy traffic for a change. Norfolk is rather flat, though, and I look forward to riding in hills and mountains again.
That's all for now, folks.
