| blackbeard,
Welcome and congrats on your new SWing. Hope you like it as much as others do here too. One word of note with the early 2002 SWings. They just used screws to fasten the front fender and then came out with different screws that don't fall out. You may want to check your screws when you get it. Don't let it worry you though. Have a great time and tell us when you get it. |

| Blackbeard, My first Swing was a black 2002 model with 41,000 miles when I purchased it. I added 10k miles then got a new 2013 Swing. My 2002 didn't have ABS brakes and I wanted the O2 sensor for better gas mileage. The ABS brakes have saved my butt several times. I haven't seen any improvement in my MPG. I am getting around 50MPG with my 2013. You enjoy your new baby as we all do. Take a MC safety course. Ride safe and have fun. Good luck. Post pics when can. Oh yea, WELCOME to the best forum. |

| Welcome Blackbeard! I have a Swing of that vintage myself. It had 14,700 miles when I bought it as the third owner. I had it inspected, tuned, put new tires and a belt on it and it's run flawlessly for nearly 2,000 miles. Hope you have a similar experience. We look forward to seeing your posts in the near future! |

One of the reasons I got her is to push out my adventure riding range. My Big Ruckus is just a leeeetle bit not big enough to comfortably ride that far on the highway. =P Blue Ridge is a definite possibility!

Thanks! I have my MC. =) My daily has been an 06 Big Ruckus but after 26K miles on her she needs to spend some time in the garage while I source parts and I've been hankering for a bigger bike on the highway anyways. My one real regret is that the 02 doesn't have ABS. But the price was right. She was wrecked two owners ago and the current owner rebuilt the front end and trimmed the plastics. She's got a sorta nekkid feel to her. Should be here in a few hours. Can't wait. =D |

Who knows, maybe in a few years you might look for another Swing with ABS. Good luck. |

| And here she is. Not pretty, but she runs like a top. I'm gonna ruminate a bit on what to do about the missing the front plastics. |

| I think it looks pretty good -- better than most nekkid bikes. I would probably paint the coolant tank matte black and just ride all summer. Heck, put on a set of clubman bars (upside down; they'll work, trust me), rearset the pegs and you'll have the most comfortable cafe "bike" on the BRP. |

| You'll probably find that all, or most of, the tabs are broken off the original Front Cover. so that's gonna leave you in a pickle. For all that it's worth, the Front Cover is ~$288, but then you'll need all the ancillary parts. Partzilla is your friend. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/Scooter/2002/FSC600+AC/FRONT+COVER/parts.html

| It takes a bit of the air off my chest, not much - but enough that it's noticeable. For the most part it's there to hide the dashboard and some of the wiring. |

| It's meant to clamp on to the handlebars but I just ran a pair of bolts on either side into some of the threaded fairing supports. Couple of zip ties to keep the headlight and dashboard secure, seems to work well. |
