Another Newbie with a Silver Wing

I'm 70 next January and thought it about time to upgrade from my Chinese 250 Maxi to one with a bit more power for touring 2 up.
I've just bought a 2012 SW due to be delivered Fri 4th December.
Nice to have a forum dedicated to one spesific model.

Welcome to the asylum Grandad. I do hope that the UK weather allows you the enjoy riding your new SW when it's delivered. Then too there will be far fewer bugs this time of year so you won't need to spend time picking them out of your teeth after you return home wearing that big smile on your face.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new SWing. You should really like this bike but be careful of the added power. But it is a very comfortable bike and will take you anywhere.

I bet you are like a kid waiting for Christmas Eve ! My first bike was a Silverwing --- about 2 years ago and a week after getting my motorcycle license. With a bit of added riding coaching and some practice I've learned just how great a bike the Silverwing really is. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine !

My Chinese 250 goes to its new owner today.
The dealer tells me he will deliver the SW tomorrow morning.

Bought the Silver Wing from Yahama Wigan who had taken it in P/X as the guy was downsizing to carry his new bike on the back of his motorhome.
I live in the Kirkham area if you want to meet.
Delivery delayed by a day and expected to land at my home Sat 5th December.

Welcome! You'll really enjoy the SW, great scooter. Lots of people here who've moved up from smaller scooters and several like myself who've moved down from big bikes like the Goldwing.

Bought the SW from Yamaha Wigan and was delivered last Sat 5th Dec.
Have done 100 miles to date in all sorts of weather.
First impressions are : very comfortable, heavy, and bloody quick.
Very pleased with my purchase.

Hi "GG" and welcome to the forum from a Kansas boy. I've been riding my SilverWing for over 5 years now but started out much the same as "Mike from NS". Definitely a great machine for practically anyone and this is the place for all the info you need. Also, I'm thinking we need to form an "Over 70" club... just sayin'...
