5 years today and 54,200 miles later.

Five years ago today I bought my Swing. It has been my 1st and only scooter/motorcycle. I have put 54,200 miles on it. Have had a lot of fun. Have been in 30 states on it. The longest trip for me was this past July out to MT, WY, ID, WA, and OR for 16 days and 5,100 miles.

It has been a great bike. I have dropped it a few times, it has fallen in parking lots on a couple of hot days. I had a slow speed accident last year. Took me out of commission for a couple of months but am ok now. So glad I took up this hobby. I have met some great people on the road and on this forum. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the technical support and information I have received over the past five years. And to JeffR and all the Mods present and past who have made this site the best Silverwing site on the Web.

I am jealous of all the time you have for the trips and the fun you have traveling. I've primarily been a commuter. You are putting your bike to better use.

Cathy! The Swing is a great bike. I have been riding this one for going on three years after crashing my first one and putting myself out of commission for awhile. I still have my 'moments' on it, but the more I ride, the more secure I feel on it. Rode over 350 miles last Saturday and another 120 on Sunday ... no problems, even in a sudden rain squall .... and I just love being able to ride. That was my longest ride to date, but I do lots of shorter ones (100 or less). Haven't been brave enough to go long distance by myself yet. Especially after I had the flat two weeks ago and nearly got dumped again! But I'm getting there .... maybe 'Tail' next year?? With one of my riding groups? Who knows ... they went this year and I couldn't go, but maybe they'll go again ....

I will have to come up to Kalamazoo one of these weekends. Getting kind of late this year. But therre is next season. I have a new grand nephew about 4 months old I have not yet met. We should exchange info.

This weekend has been absolutely gorgeous, surprise riding opps this late in September! Usually down to ride a day, rain a day, ride a day, rain two days, ride a day at this time of year. Hope to be able to ride another week solid before the cool and rain start showing up again!

If you get a chance to come up to Kalamazoo, just let me know and we can do a ride (depending on what time of year and if the weather is good) or at least lunch or dinner!

Nice post and it seems you are the new "John Grinsel" with the miles you are putting on. I wish I could ride as much as you. Keep riding and sharing your stories and by all means...."Ride Safe".

No I am not the new "John Grinsell" I will trailer my bike if it means getting some where quicker. Only issue is where do you store the car and the trailer. I have looked at storage possibilities in the past. We thought about trailering to Denver. Then riding to the coast and up trough the Pacific NW. Or SW. But we need to have 2 or 3 weeks to do that. Bob has some difficulty getting long stretches of time off. And of course there is the cost of the trip. I'll just keep dreaming. Can't complain of where I have been so far.

Way to go Cathy! Riding really is fun , keeps you young at heart .

Cathy's last visit to the site was on 24th. September, 2021.
Her profile stats indicate she visits from time to time so a four-month break is not unusual.

I have the occasional poke about on that maxi-scoots site and CathyN seems to hang about on there these days. Even I know she's now retired, has had an operation on a dodgy knee, rides a Gold wing etc,

I must have done 30K  in 3 years , mainly commuting and a bit too tired to go out at the weekend on her but it has to be the highlight of my working day. 

I am more of an adventure rider then a road tourer so doing up a Transalp  XLV600v to hit the TET when possible and tbh will be sad to not be on the Swinger but know she will be waiting for me when I return Ahhhhhhh dont you just love it!!
