I have seen damaged rims people have used, it depends I guess on how badly it was damaged, one said it doesn't leak I'm happy. Do you feel comfortable riding on the rim / tire and how badly was the tire damaged?

Sorry to hear about that. My first reaction would be yes,but I would have more questions than answers. You would have to define slightly bent.  Aluminum rims cab be repaired by someone who is qualified.
I would think the rim has to be taken off and this can be a lot of work if not done by a experienced mechanic.Have you tried to locate a used rim? Good luck.   Howard

A few months back I was following a large van into Birmingham UK city centre late at night. As i followed it onto the expressway down the slip road there a massive pothole in the road straight along the the side of the carriage way it was 3inches deep 12inches wide and 15 yards long. There was no chance of missing it at 50 mph especially with a laden scooter and a pillion so I aimed for the path of little damage and did my best to bounce the front over it as much as I could. There was one hell of a bang but we made it. The front hit it in line with one of the spokes and bent the rim on both sides by 2/4 of an inch, the rear was quite bent between two spokes by at least an inch.
I didnt expect the rear to be fixable but when I took them in the guy said no problem and heated them to make it possible and I got them back in almost perfect alignment. The tyres run totaly true. After getting them powder coated they look fine and have done about 6K miles with no problems. I did replace both tyres though because I didnt trust them after such a knock.

A. nice job riding the problem out without dumping it. B. You don't find many people that can fix a badly bent rim and make it usable, better keep him on your good side cheers

Thank you oldgwingguy, but I think I just got lucky.
When I saw your location and having never heard of Hocking Hills I did a google search for where it was.
Wow you live in a beautiful part of the world!

Thank you for that HORNBLOWER Smile Yes it indeed is ALMOST John Denver Country Roads like. I can be almost isolated in peace and quiet and darkness yet only an hour from Columbus 0-HI-o. We have all the lower 48 states, 2 Canada Providences under our belt on one Goldwing and still liked coming home.

It may work, Rim damage Dontknow but you will never know if you don't try.
If those were my rims I would try having them straightened. I would also look around for some good used rims. It's good to have have an extra set of rims. That way you can have new tires mounted on the extra rims then go home and swap the new ones for the old ones at your convenience.
Good luck. Please let us know if it works.
