| Hi,
I was at the Honda shop the other day and had to but a couple of fasteners for my windshield for my CTX700. And I saw a Burgman 650 that I have seen there for quite a while and saw that the price tag is $11,799. I had no idea that the B650 was so expensive. I know that if someone is interested that the shop would go down in price but asking price is almost $12,000. In 2007 when I bought my SWing at this shop it was $7,999 and I talked them down $500. I asked the parts guy if the B650 sells very well and he said they have had that for a long time and also said they seem to be expensive to work on as well.
I know they are really good scooters, and probably better interstate bikes than the SWing, but $12,000 is a lot of money to me and I think I would rather have a larger motorcycle for the same price. I just didn't realize that they cost that much. But they are very popular and it seems those that have owned them really enjoy them.
Does anyone know what a new Silver Wing goes for? This shop hasn't had a Swing in well over a year now. |

| If I ever bought a B650 it would be a used one, they drop thousands as soon as someone puts their name on the title. The only new Silverwing we can get here in the US will be a leftover 2012 or 2013? I'm not sure when but I do know sadly Honda quit importing them here. |

| When I bought my present left over 2013 SilverWing a little over 15 months ago----I considered the Burgman 650, but the nearly $4000 out the door price difference??
Big scooter market appears to be dead in US. Burgman 400 is not down size from SilverWing and goes down highway well, getting 5-10mpg better than SilverWing.
Honda Forza 300? |

| I have read that the Forza is a very smooth bike and will also top out at 90 mph. That is not bad for a 300cc bike. I also read that long legged people don't fit too good though but I may sit on one the next time I'm at the Honda shop. |

Hay Jeff, Hayden Honda has a 2011 SW with zero miles on the showroom floor for $7,499 http://fortwayne.craigslist.org/mcd/5080965306.html and Ehlerding has a 2013 SW for $8,399. http://www.ehlerdingmotorsports.com/new_vehicle_detail.asp?veh=332592&pov=3844347 From what I have seen on craigslist, that is the average price for the few dealers who have the half dozen or so new ones left East of the Mississippi. I have seen some newer 2012-2013 used ones for around 5 grand with less than a couple thousand miles on them too. |

When I purchased the SW, I cosider in the T-Max and B650; first discarded for the price (€ 12,500) for B650 too many problems with the automatic variator some friends have also changed 3 times .... Honda better .... |

| When I bought my Swing I had every intention of getting a B650 or BMW, but I could not justify the price difference of 3500 to 4000 dollars. Plus I always had good luck with hondas, so I bought the Silverwing. I have been impressed with the Swing enough to realize I got a good value for my money. |

| At least the B650 keeps the BMW C650GT from being the most expensive maxi scooter. |

I think we're all well aware by now that you have a BMW C650 GT but is it really necessary to keep continually plugging it. In the UK, the 650 Burgman costs £8799 or $13956, not nearly as expensive as the BMW C650 GT at £9795 or $15535. The C650 GT Highline is £10545 or $16804. |

| Sorry you apparently missed a bit of American humor there Meldrew. I was actually making a gibe against the high cost of the BMW scooter. Somewhat akin to the joke that Obama improved Jimmy Carter's status to that of second worst president.
I do mention the BMW since that's what I currently have. I often mention the Silverwing as being one of the best and most bulletproof maxi scooter and have recommended it to many on this forum and local friends two of whom recently purchased SWs. We all ride together often and I do the maintenance on their SWs. If however the other members feel I mention the GT too often I will take my leave from the forum to prevent any ill feelings. Of course your opinion will not be taken into consideration. |

| That's not my opinion, simply an observation. We all refer our previous maxi scooters time to time in our posts, just as former Gold Wing owners often refer to them in their posts. I don't think anyone needs to mention the Silver Wing as being one of the best and bulletproof maxi scooters around either, we already know this and it's been around for the last 14 years or so. As for taking your leave from the forum, why would you want to do that. It's a forum and we all have differing views of things and ways of expressing ourselves. You're also right, I don't get a lot of American humour. |

| Paul,
Please don't go anywhere. When I started this topic I was just surprised at the price of the B650. I thought I have see a SWing or 2 in shops that had a listed price of about $9,500 and was surprised. I know the SWing can be talked down but I wasn't sure about the B650, and I haven't been in a BMW shop in years.
There is a post on the Burgmanusa site about someone being told by his Honda shop that the SWing is going to replaced in 2016. So I don't know if it is the Integra or a completely new SWing on the drawing boards. |

| I don't plan on leaving this great forum unless asked to by the admin. I might have overreacted to my fellow curmudgeon across the pond whose opinion I value even when I disagree with it. |

At our local Honda dealer they have a new 2013 leftover that they have reduced the price to $8,800. But they are not selling motorcycles much this year. They have not sold a single new motorcycle of any kind yet in 2015 in that shop. It is the same at the Yamaha dealer across town. They do not stock a T-max or any of the smaller Yamaha scooters, and instead sell some smaller Kymco models. They stock a few of Yamaha's Harley-styled wannabe cruisers but have not sold any of those this year yet either. The Suzuki and Kawasaki dealership here went out of business 11 years ago this summer. The only dealership in this area that is really busy and moving a lot of bikes is the Harley-Davidson dealership on the NW corner of town. And they do not take any metric bikes in trade there. We bought a Harley Ultra at that dealership recently, and that place is so busy it is almost like pandemonium there, and they are even open on Sundays now. |
