| I have my bikes stored in a garage that is buried halfway under 6 foot snowbanks. My son was supposed to keep a path open to the door, but the last dump was way too much even for him. Now we have a 30 foot driveway with 5 feet of snow all the way. Underneath the white stuff is the clear hard stuff, a foot thick and slippery as heck. I haven't been able to check on my honeys for about 3 months now. I am sure they are ok, I wonder how long I can hold out. I told my riding buddies that I would not complain about the hot days of summer, and it is NEVER going to be " too hot to ride" as far as I am concerned. |

| I have a bit of trouble wrapping my head around that. It's tough to imagine waiting until late April/early May for snow to melt and get warm enough to really enjoy riding. (just guessing the time frame) Here in SE Michigan we still have snow hiding in the shade/shadows. But with temps around 60° today + rain, that should be taken care of finally!! (I hope) I've been out a few times already with temps in the mid 40s to low & mid 50s. Cool maybe, but sunny and dry. I'd guess folks in the deep south would have trouble imagining not being able to ride EVERY day.
With the weather the way it is there, I'd take advantage of every opportunity to ride if it were me.
A day without riding is like......... well,........ a day without riding. |

| Note to rub it in, but: mid March there was a hole in the weather here encouraging enough for me to ride from here (Philly) to Florida. Yeah, sure there was an IBA get together in Jacksonville I had preregistered for, but the next day I continued my ride down to Key West where it was a balmy 84°. The down side is that I then had to ride back north with the last 250 miles a bone chilling cold. I dont think that I'll ever stop feeling cold after that 24 hour contrast in temperatures.
Oh well, "World's Toughest Riders", and all that.

| Meanwhile over the Pond, it's business as usual. Here in York we had some overnight snow one day in January which had turned to slush by mid morning. In contrast to the last few days which have been cold, wet, and very windy, today was warm and sunny and I was pottering about with the Silver Wing changing the engine oil and filter and the final drive oil, dressed in T shirt and German dustbin mans dungarees, looking like a hi-vis Walton. Thanks are due of course to Sir Jeff R and his handy pictorials, the next jobs are changing the coolant and the brake fluid. |

| You have reminded me of a ride I took into N. Minnesota in the Fall a few years ago. I had to buy a light jacket and gloves when I hit the South border. As the ride went on I ended up with a couple more stops. Face mask; mittens, rubber boots & insulated coveralls. I was lucky to find an Army surplus store to save a little money. It was weather that wasn't supposed to happen. PS: Putting my battery in today. |

| Hang in there Cotetoi, the warm days of spring are only around the corner. It hit eastern Ontario today. Got up to 17°C (62°F). This is the first warm day since last fall. Got my first swing ride of the season in today. Oh beautiful spring..... Here's pics of how quick it can change: This was the back yard last Sunday: This was a kilometer away today: I uncovered the swing and hit the starter button for the first time since last November. It fired up instantly as if the engine was already warmed up. Idled and ran silky smooth as usual. I put fuel stabilizer in after last years final ride, also plugged in all winter to a battery tender. |

| I was feeling much the same until two weeks ago. Got five inches of snow which was busy melting by mid afternoon. Yesterday was mid 70's and sunny! Rode fifty miles and got a sunburn on my arms! Today started rainy, but the clouds broke and it is upper 60's! Hang tough, better times are on the way. |
