Anybody think I'd be stupid for buying a Honda reflex?
I'd be using it for fiddle-fartin' around town & on the two lane.
Keep the silverwing for long trips.

Friend of mine had a 250 Reflex and used to ride 2up on the highways at 120 km/h. It was no slouch the way he put it. I'd say you could use it for whatever you use the SW for. Same body configuration and storage space. I've been thinking of getting one if it ever became available locally: for the great gas mileage.

I think it would be a smart thing to do. I don't think I will ever only have one scooter again. The Reflex butt stop can be raised for a backrest just like the Silverwing butt stop. An extra scooter comes in real handy if you need to wait for parts for your Silverwing.
leroy beal backrest mod May he rest in peace.

Motorcycles and scooters are like potato chips, you can't have just one. Go for the gusto. Right now I have a BMW k1100LT and my 650GT scooter but once I get too old and lame for the LT I'll be looking for a smaller stablemate to my GT. A Helix would be great for that. If you have two you can work on one and ride the other. Which is nice if something breaks you're not grounded while waiting for parts.

I had a Reflex and liked it. But since it was my only bike it just couldn't handle the speeds out here on the SF bay area traffic. But it is a great bike if you want to do 55 mph though. I found when I put on the Givi shield it was so tall it really cut down the speed. But they are great bikes.

Have never owned a Reflex, but have ridden a friend's. I like my Helix better, seating position more comfortable for me. It is my primary go-fer transportation to the store, etc. Have had it for almost 25 years. Better for around town and other short errands although I've ridden it on several long trips of 2,000 miles or more.

Reflex is fine, but long out of production....I had a new one, run over from behind by lady on cell phone at stop sign. at 23,000 miles=totaled. Reflex, adjust valves a little harder than Helix TDC harder to see/reach, change drive belt no longer as easy a Helix

A Reflex is a fine scooter, but isn't it just like a lighter, underpowered Silverwing?

Have you considered a more traditional scooter, like a Vespa? Most small wheeled scooters are going to be lighter and much more maneuverable around town than the Reflex. If its just for fiddle fartin' around, long distance comfort shouldn't matter. No need for a backrest and a flat floorboard is great.

On down side to smaller wheel scooters especially in cities that tend to have rougher pavement is the rough ride. The larger wheels make for a lot smoother ride. My 650GT has 15" wheels and I have followed a couple of 50cc scoots going through Medford's busy streets and having a lot rougher ride than I was getting.

There's no question on the reliability of the Vespa.
With the exception of going back and forth to work, most of my fiddle-fartin' is
two-up. You know how it is.....Go look at something, stop here, stop there, "Oh, can we stop to see her folks? Smile ...........turns into a 100 mile day. "Ummmm, what did I get done today? Smile
exavid.... I'll look into the 650GT
