| My wife and I are going to make a lap around Lake Superior this coming weekend, leaving here on Friday morning. It's against our better judgement to make two border crossings on a holiday weekend, but we'll manage.
We're splitting our trip up into five 300 mile days and going clockwise around the lake on this one. If there's some of the forum folks who are in the northern Wisconsin/Minnesota, Ontario, Michigan UP areas it would be great to meet some of you folks, stop and have coffee or lunch, or even ride with us part way or something. Probably not a good idea to post our cell phone number on the forum. But I think our email is visible from our profile, so please contact us if you'll be around and maybe we can hook up.
If nothing else we'll come back with some photos, etc. of our trip. -- Chris & Kristin |

| I'd love to make that trip but from home it would be at least triple distance and time. Enjoy and share some photos afterward. |

| We have not been on the Lake Superior ride for several years now. But it is very beautiful. We hope the weather is good for us. We don't mind riding in the rain. But the water surface temp on the main part of the lake is only 36 degrees. If there is a southerly wind (very common), the air is cooled as it flows over 100 miles of cold open water, and can sometimes mean riding in 45 degree weather with drizzle to driving rain for about half the ride on the North Shore. There is also some construction taking place on part of the route in the Michigan UP and we have reports from some of our LD Riding friends who recently did the Circle Tour in 24 hours that it is very muddy in that construction zone near Ishpeming for about 15 miles. We may detour around that. |
