| I also ride a 2014 Forza..which is buttery smooth. I expected a twin cylinder Honda scoot to be even smoother.
On my Swing, I’ve felt (and heard) a buzzing, when accelerating. Doesn’t matter how hard. Once I’ve reached crusing speed, it smooths out..until I need to open the throttle even a little.
On my old airhead BMW’s this would be cause by carbs out of synch.
Somewhere in my reading on this forum, someone reported a similar problem, but I never found a resolution.
So, couple questions; Should this 1000 mile Swing be as smooth as my 21,000 mile Forza?
The buzzing sounds like it might be coming from exhaust. Is this muffler supposed to have rubber insulators on the mount bolts/nuts? |

| I don't know why you're expecting a twin to be necessarily smoother than a small single, have you ever seen a Harley at tickover? The SW engine is actually quite smooth, but there are many other things that can buzz and rattle. On mine much of it is from the fairing, a combination of broken tabs and the assorted rubbish I keep in the fairing pockets. |

Ever seen a BMW R60 idle with a quarter standing on edge on top of the tank? Creamy smooth. OTOH, I’ve ridden a ‘47 knucklehead. |

| My first impression on riding a Silver Wing was its smoothness. |

| My Forza is very smooth as well. Most FSC600's get a little buzzy under acceleration usually around 30-35 MPH. Mine did but changing to sliders lessened this. But overall I feel the Silver Wing is a very smooth machine. It will never be a Goldwing but still one of the smoothest rides I have owned. |

Was the change to sliders worth it in your opinion? I’m not usually one to make modifications, unless they are a true benefit to reliability and efficiency. I’ll be in there when my new belt arrives. |

I’ll be in there when my new belt arrives. IMHO no I don't feel they are worth the extra $$$. Most on this forum will disagree, but Honda rollers cost less than 1/2 what sliders do. When I removed my rollers about 15K they had no noticeable wear (didn't need to be replaced) but I had already bought the sliders so... There was a slight decrease in vibration and no increase in fuel mileage in my case. Search here on the forum for further info. Good luck. |

| I have a fair bit of experience with rollers vs sliders and I feel the sliders are worth the cost & effort. I had the same set of Dr Pulley sliders in both my Swings with absolutely no wear to any of them. (Around 150 000 miles). That would probably be at least 4 sets of rollers which I did not pay to replace. But they were 28gm and I was eager to try lighter sliders.....unfortunately I could only get 24gm and they are a bit light. (Busy shopping for 26 gm sliders over Xmas). Fuel cost is around the same, but the revs are somewhat lower, which I believe is a bonus with all the highway traveling I do daily. I feel they are smoother on pull-off too. I would certainly recommend if you are planning some TLC. |

| Hi Mighty Mouse.
If you have 28gm sliders, I would replace the driven plate clutch spring with a Malossi Contra spring 17kgs (search my article under the same name) rather than try to find 26gm sliders, as it seems DrPulley (just looked) only list the standard 28gm sliders now. Could find no listing for any other weights! You will find that "sweet" spot because the Malossi spring holds it in a lower gearing for acceleration but the 28 sliders will lower the rpm for freeway/ motorway cruising. And the springs a lot cheaper than a set of sliders. Food for thought, but I highly recommend doing the spring even before trying sliders full stop. Hope this helps. |

| What a difference a new belt makes. In spite of having only 977 miles on the original belt from 2008. It appears much of the buzzing and the squeaking came from that old stiff belt.
New Mitsuboshi belt from Honda ($87 at the local dealer), and much smoother and no squeak!
While I was in there I checked the crank fan filter…which crumbled in my fingers. Living in a small rural town, makes finding parts or materials for this difficult.
Local Airconditioning supply had no foam filter material, nor did hardware store. Found a shop vacuum cleaner filter bag for 5 bucks, that has enough material to cut out at least 4 filters.
77 degrees here today. Time for a. nice long ride tomorrow. |
