Smart Key $150 about plus only works 90% of time
Stop living in the past, Smart Keys are becoming standard on maxi scooters now.
My 2018 Honda Forza uses one and it works 100% of the time. I've had no problems whatsoever with in just over 6 years. I've changed the battery on the key I used the most once.
As Smart Keys were still a novelty when I bought my Forza there was all this nonsense about key cloning and keeping the key safe in a RFID pouch, Using it as a Faraday Cage to prevent the key signal being cloned etc.
I was daft enough to buy one just after getting my Forza and I used it for a couple of weeks, since then it's just hanging on the Forza's key ring. I keep my Smart Keyin a jacket pocket, not in a scooter glovebox like all these YouTube maxi riders seem to do.
You get the occasional post on here and other maxi forums where owners have accidentally locked their metal scooter keys under the seat. In fact one post I read recently the hapless owner locked his house keys under the seat too.
That doesn't happen with a Smart Key, you need the key ON to be able to open the seat. Drop the keys in there and close the seat isn't a problem, you just open the seat again because it doesn’t lock.
We've all read posts on here from some fella who isn't a member coming on here asking for advice how to open the seat. As he's accidentally locked his Silver Wing there and the spare is either at home, or he only got one key when he bought the scooter.
Want to find your Smart Key scooter in a dark or dimly lit car park, press the other button on the key and your indicators/turn signals flash. They also flash when you walk a few feet away from the scooter out of range for the Smart Key.
