| We're planning a summer trip from Mid-West Ontario Canada through Grand Cache Alberta and perhaps up to Hyder AK - Stewart BC. Motorcycles in the pack may include maxi-scooters, light weight 250cc street motos, full cruisers, a touring Gold Wing and perhaps an adventure bike.
Main questions we have are about:
1. fuel availability (both gas for our motos and and diesel for our chase vehicle); 2. places to stay (RV camping or motels); 3. condition of roads (i.e. gravel) and; 4. things to see/experience upon arrival (we'll likely only have a couple of days to explore and want to make the most of them).
I've been Googling and gathering information but first hand knowledge based on experience is typically more insightful and relevant.
Thanks in advance! ~ BugJr ~ |

| Been to Hyder many times -- on bike---from helix to silverwing---easy ride , plenty of gas, motels---I like riding thru rockies----real riders do not use chase vehicle---Hyder is easy way to Alaska,, I stop get hamburger and beer and leave. All nice pavement, little traffic. |

They do if they want to find a meaningful role for a medically challenged friend to play in the adventure. |

You miss the point. Everybody is different with different needs, abilities and desires. Just because you have your B.S. (belief system), it doesn't mean you're right and others are wrong. Everyone has different experiences, circumstances and thinking abilities which shape their unique belief system. |

| Thus, the " Curmudgeon" designation... I "second" that last opinion...

| I do not use a "chase vehicle" when on a solo trip. BUT the op states that there will be a multitude of bikes and or scooters. In that case I do see the logic to having a support vehicle. Regardless, "different strokes for different folks". Enjoy the ride and I wish I could go also |

I do believe it's that Maxi Touring lot that used to have their own forum and we were once all encouraged to join. Hope it all works out with or without a back up van. I've attended a few FIM Rallies where National Teams could have a support vehicle. A couple of nations took the piss on this rule, loading up a large van up with small capacity 50cc bikes with no one ever spotted riding to and from the Rally. Then on the Parade of Nations where all the National Teams rode in convoy through the host city, there'd be at least a dozen or more these immaculately clean 50cc Simson S51 2-stroke bikes riding in formation, riders waving madly at the crowds. |
